I wanted to post information about an online informational event hosted by cardiologists at the Cleveland Clinic related to heart health. Participation is free and open to anyone from any country. You do need to register in advance. At that time, you are invited to ask a question that may be discussed during the event.
I have no idea how helpful any of the questions and responses might be for you. I just wanted to share the possibility.
I am keeping as best I can. You know how it goes—sometimes just day-by-day. 😊
I signed up for the online event, and I hope that it is helpful. I also know that the time may not be good for many of you. I think that you may be about 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time so that means that the event might start around 10:30 pm your time. I’m not totally sure about the time though. I just thought that I should pass it on in case someone might be interested.
I hope that you are doing okay. I have been trying to cut out all (or mostly all) added sugars in my food. I’m trying to make a dent in blood glucose levels. But it leaves me wanting a cookie, or a piece of cake. 😃. I’ve been fairly good—-lost seven pounds in the last two months.
I’m really just trying to lower all of the major problem areas that lead to increased heart disease. Thank you for asking!❤️
I believe that it might be a 5 hour time difference. That would then be a 10:30 pm start time for you ( if my calculations are correct). I hope that helps some.
I had to go low carb due to developing T2 diabetes rather suddenly. Lost lot of weight I’d put on due to the heart meds. It’s hard when you’re a good cook, especially the cakes and desserts, but you find them too sweet. I do manage to make a low carb dessert sometimes.
Yes, I am hoping to lower my A1c numbers and point-in-time glucose levels. I seem to maintain a 6.2 A1C without medication, but it is definitely too high.
My weakness would be the lovely baked goods that you mentioned. I miss those! 😊
I asked how long after CABG (bypass op), do you have to take; blood thinners, beta blockers and statins. I think statins for life but the rest just 12 months. But my opinion keeps changing 🤔🫢😂
That is a very important question, Woodsie! Hopefully, they will answer that during the presentation. I’m sure that other people would like that answer as well. 😊
I don’t know that information yet. I believe that they will be sending additional information as we get closer to the event.
You can ask a specific question at the time of registration, but during the online event, individual microphones will be muted. At least, I believe that I read that correctly.
That makes sense for big meetings or people would be constantly butting in. If it's on Zoom that's really easy; literally just click a link and follow instructions. You can even turn off your camera
Oh, that would be great! I have never used one of these newer meeting platforms, so I get a little (or a lot) nervous about it. Plus, my anxiety makes it difficult to be on camera. I know that it sounds silly 🙃, but there it is!
Here is the response that I received after registering:
Thank you for registering for Cleveland Clinic’s Ask the Experts event, Keeping a Pulse on Your Heart Health, on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The event will start promptly at 5:30 p.m.
Cardiologists from Cleveland Clinic will answer a collection of questions, share their expertise and provide clinical insights on heart health.
A few items to note:
You'll be able to watch the live event from any mobile device or computer. All participant lines will be muted during the event. No additional questions will be accepted during the program.
Stay tuned for a reminder email the day before the event with more viewing details.
If you have any questions, please email wellnessevent@ccf.org.
Sounds simple but doesn't give any information on what they are using so it must be just a link to click and ossibly a password that they will send I'm the same about being on camera. I never even add a photo on forums. I'm on a dog club committee and always turn my camera off. If you don't know how, just stick a bit of paper over the lens.
Thank you so much for that information! I will definitely try the paper covering. Great idea! 👍
It’s funny (as in strange), but I joined a monthly book club at my local public library about 3-4 months ago. It’s a small group of about six people, but it doesn’t bother me to go in person to talk with them.
In general, I avoid larger groups or going out too much. Just my anxiety. I used to teach/lecture at a large university. I would go to large conferences and speak to large groups of over 100 people. I coordinated large gatherings, etc. it’s almost like talking about a different person. 😄
Thank you again for making me feel better about the online event. I can handle just listening. ❤️
I'm much the same. I was a teacher which suited me fine but being in a big group throws me. I hate things like parties but two or three friends are fine. When in groups online I prefer to be a blank black box LOL
