Scared
Hello
I have just been looking and see you have found out you have copd which I am sorry to hear about
As for your pulse has you bee coughing , feeling anxious things like that as sometimes that can cause our heart rate to go up
Maximum heart rate is 100 you were 10 above but it has come down I do not think it is anything if this was just a one of to start worrying about but if it keeps happening then you need to speak with your Doctor and if it goes up again instead of leaving it 6 hours give 111 a ring and get their advice what they think is the best thing to do
Hopefully though it might have been just a one of and you will be fine x
I had episode 4 yrs ago woke up during night with high heart rate which scared me to the point I've been obsessed ever since.. Slightest raise n I'm get worried I've had to 7day holter found odd eptopics but it's when it races I get scared I hear it in my ears
Hello
If the last time i happened was 4 years ago then I think many of us if we kept checking night find it happens an odd time
I know it is scary and unpleasant but try and relax as that will send you heart rate up and make it more difficult to breath especially having copd
Keep an eye on it and next time you speak with your Doctor mention it and hopefully they will put your mind at ease x
Not medical advice, opinions and suggestions only,
Any number of things could have spiked it in the first place, from hormones, to pain, to stress, illness and fever once it was raised as you were actively monitoring it anxiety may have then held it there, a long with spiking your BP - potentially,
We have some general guides with heart rates, they did some tests on people who were gifted fighter jet red day experiences , upon take off their hearts raced to 165 BPM, due to excitement, fear, unknown or whatever mix.
You should call 111 if your heart does not come down from 110 after 30 mins, or shorter if you don't feel comfortable. Please follow up with your doctor they might wish for you to take another propranolol in such situations.
110 is like a walk at average speed for a lot of people, so it was like giving your heart a slow walk for 6 hours, there is huge variability of course, some people can run 180 going up the stairs which is fine if they have been checked out, and after they climb the stairs it goes back down. Everyone of us has a unique heart.
Your heart is being told what to do through hormones and a nerve network from your brain, it will spike this is normal, so overthinking every spike is something you should address, you should try and workout what is normal for you and what is not.
Was there any reason you didn't call for help?
You should also look into HRV , heart rate variability which is a healthy and normal part of our hearts rhythms.
There are documented cases of people having a resting heart rate of 120, and living a normal life, but that would probably not be ideal for most people.
Fascinating study in Munich of a large group of people who attended a beer festival about 25% of the drinkers had a heart rate over 100, I would assume it to be 100-120 at a rough guess, for probably a duration of a few hours. escardio.org/The-ESC/Press-...
So when it comes to heart rate its a case of how high, how long, pain or discomfort in the chest area, what is normal for you, and what are the circumstances, stress, illness, anxiety, excitement, heart disorders.
My res ting h eart rate is al ways between 80 and 90. If yours stays up above 100 for more than an hour, ring 111. Remember anxiety increases heart rate.
