A few weeks ago I was feeling a little unwell and I did I pregnancy test.
It was positive,
I quickly made a doctor appointment and an appointment with my cardiologist as well as my psychiatrist. All okay, but we had to adjust some of my medication.
I just about survived Christmas avoiding lots of nice no go foods and drink, and passing off my morning sickness as acid reflux.
This morning I've had my dating scan (12 weeks scan, although I'm not quite 12 weeks yet) and seen the cardiologist where they did an ECG and took my blood pressure where everything is going well. We've nicknamed the bump Olive as we found out I was pregnant when the fetus was the size of an olive.
Bump Olive is due in the summer

Thank you, that's so lovely of you to say, I must admit my pregnancy hormones made me cry reading this.
We are both very excited for olives arrival and although we wasn't planned she is very loved. We've already had a few hiccups but that just makes us love bump even more..
I had my midwife booking appointment just after Christmas. Everything has been sorted. I think the whole medical profession in my local area knows I'm pregnant, I feel like I've seen everyone.
Aaw, congratulations! First thing I saw when I looked at my ‘phone this morning, what lovely news to start the day 🥰 Take good care of Olive and yourself, please! 💕
Huge congratulations to you! That’s an amazing milestone and lots of positive energy! I love the name Olive! 🎉🎊🎊🎉🎈🎈💕
My first baby is now a 45 year old man, but I can still remember the excitement and joy and fear of having a brand new baby. You have so many wonderful milestones to look forward to!
awww bless & congratulations Valentina & here’s wishing you a smooth pregnancy & an awesome outcome .. I’m sure everything will be fine & I’m sure olive (or perhaps Oliver or Olivia would make for great names on the back of bump being size of an olive .. thankfully it was a peanut size as coming up with a follow on name would prove difficult lol ) hopefully you will wait to find out what sex it will be as that would make for an even bigger & better surprise . God bless take It easy & stay calm & keep / put feet up to save them legs swelling more than necessary & putting extra pressure on your heart .. hey it’s nice also to be pampered so make the most of having some you time .. exciting time ahead & all the best 🥰
Thank you, so far my legs aren't swelling, I am actually planning on not finding out the sex until Olive is born, being a teacher I know a few Olive's, Olivia's and Oliver's so I don't think I'll use it although it is a good name.
We've had a few hiccups along the way already but I'm hoping from now on it will be smooth going
Yes, morning sickness is not nice at all. I only had a little with my first one born in the 8o's. The other two not so much. But my mother had it terrible like Princess Catherine suffered with, but glad that didn't get passed down, by my mother. But at the end you are going to have a beautiful baby. Keep your strength up and make sure you get pampered by your other half, who must be elated at the news. I am going to be a great Grandma in July, looking forward to it. Let us know how you are doing and make sure you rest.Regards Dee.
Dan is just as excited as me if not more, plus of course my mum is super excited to become a grandmother.
Dan is making sure I'm not doing anything I shouldn't, he even brings he a herbal tea and some biscuits when he goes to work (or comes home if on nights) so I have something when I wake up
Huge congratulations, looking like 2024 is going to be an exciting year V for you, your other half and your Mum of course. I hope everything goes to plan and you treasure every moment. Take good care of yourself, listen to your body and ask for any help if you feel it’s needed. I bet you can’t wait to meet Olive 🫒 😊! Good luck and I’m very happy for you. ❤️🧚🏼♀️
Oh Mum is very excited, she wanted to come with me to the scan yesterday. Lucky I managed to get her to stay at home, but I think she's going to be in the delivery room with me as well lol
Wow!!..some great news after you have been having such a difficult time lately...hope it all goes smoothly..and wish you and Olive all the best..congrats!!!
That's wonderful news Valentina Make sure you get plenty of rest and follow all advice from your doctors and all will be well This little one is meant to be and as soon as you hold her in your arms you will lose all concerns about what sort of mother you will be I was very closely monitored through three pregnancies many moons ago and I and babies were fine
Congratulations on your amazing news. A new little life gives you renewed energy to keep looking after yourself. Best days of my life having a baby I couldn’t stop crying. (Happy tears) enjoy every minute. 🩵🩷
At least 5 brave drivers have gone down the road and almost cleared it so my shopping will hopefully get there tomorrow. You can not use a mobility scooter on even 2 inches of snow so I can't even get to the local shop. It's now just grey and white and VERY cold. I HATE snow
I HATE snow too! We got at least 3 inches last night! Plus, we may get up to 4 more inches of snow on Thursday. The freezing temps are continuing too. You may have read me complaining yesterday that my car doors were covered in ice and frozen shut when I had to drive my Mom to the vascular surgeon yesterday. She has two more appointments this week on Thursday, but the snow may mean cancelling. It is a 30+ mile drive, and I’m not really good at driving in snow anymore. So, I do get how you feel. ❤️
It's not that I'm not capable. Many years ago when working in Bradford I almost killed a group of teenagers on their way to school when I hit black ice and the car spun. When it finally stopped it was up on a lawn barely 2 feet from where the group were pressed up against a block of flats. Something like that never leaves you. I had lived in Germany for years where they have dry fluffy snow that just crumbles under your wheels and is safe to drive on unlike this awful wet stuff that compresses to ice. Please no more on Thursday. I need to get to the GP on Friday. ARthritic shoulders and scraping cars don't go together
Gosh that must have been awful . As you say , you can be experienced at something but one sudden thing can happen and change it all. Much like the old saying , " It's always the best swimmers that drown ".I don't drive , I didn't pass my test because of a similar experience even though I was a good driver and the accident was not my fault.
Although I wouldn't be allowed to drive now anyway with my health issues the upside being that it's never me that has to go outside and scrape a windscreen!
I'd driven from being 14 years old; drove all over Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria and France in all weathers without ever a worry until that. If I get caught in snow now, someone has to prise my fingers off the steering wheel.
Wow ! Look at the messages , I hope you've saved this post to look back on if you ever feel a bit down.Congrats again , although I've said it before xxx
