I know it is a bit off topic but hearing of Annie Nightingale's death brought a flood of memories back to me. In the latter part of my first degree she had a Sunday afternoon show. I listened to this for years but got increasingly annoyed as I sent in numerous requests and never had one played. She also appeared on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" which I watched for many years.
Sadly along with the deaths of people like Lemmie Kilmister and Tom Petty it reminds one of one's own mortality.
It brought back a few memories for me, she really was a trailblazer for women on the radio. rest easy Annie x
similarly the actors in many of the old films I enjoy watching are now dead or very decrepit !
The actor/director that impresses me is Clint Eastwood. He has moved through so many genres of film including the Spaghetti westerns and Dirty Harry series to a much more varied output. The last film I saw him in (ignoring TV) was "The Mule" at Hatfield Galleria in early 2019. He both directed and starred in it playing a 90 y.o. when he was only 89. Well worth watching if you get the chance. I believe he is the ionly surviving actor from the western series Rawhide.
I prefer Cary Grant, James Stewart, and Audrey Hepburn etc but I agree Clint Eastwood was great.

When I was at Heriot-Watt University between 1976 and 1980 Annie Nightingale came along to do a gig. I remember it as a great time. A few times in her Sunday shows she would give a mention to her ‘favourite’ Edinburgh university. This amused us a lot and irritated our friends at the other one! I loved the music she played, quite a wide spectrum I think.
I've never heard of her but I agree that when celebrities of a certain age pass away , it really does bring it home to us that our time on this earth is naturally limited.
I know, used to listen to her while I was getting ready to go out or studying late. It's very sad.
