Drop in Blood SugR

Hi all, m early 6 months since STEMI and all usual meds etc. The last week or so I have been having episodes of feeling like my blood sugars have dropped and needing to eat something sweet which then makes the feeling go away, does anyone else suffer this, could it be the meds? I don’t know if my blood sugar is low that’s how I describe it anyway probably should get a tester.

Dear Trafar

I too have been feeling in need of sweet stuff, so I have tried converting to fruit. I am not overweight. However I have just started on a nine month NHS course for prediebetics and so far I have learnt that porridge for breakfast and not fruit is best. I must say I now have better energy levels in the mornings.

So maybe you would benefit from a rethink of diet. A lot to learn. Just a random thought.

Tank you for your reply, I do have the oats in the form of a low sugar granola and it just happens randomly like last night about 4pm I am just wondering if it could be a reaction to Amy of my medication.

have you been prescribed a beta-blocker (Bisoprolol, Metoprolol)? beta blockers can influence blood sugar levels

some diabetic meds are also used for heart conditions, thus lowering blood sugar, if you are worried beta tester, those who are diabetic on here can tell you that readings below 4 indicate the need for sugar. Also if it’s consistantly low go back to your go and tell him of your findings.
