My husband is currently in hospital..he has been in already for 4 weeks and its been confirmed today he needs a triple or quadruple bypass after having a silent heartattack that they don't know when it happened as he was taken in with what we were told was double pneumonia originally 😢. We are now waiting for an asap appointment to be made and his pre op tests to be done. I suffer extreme anxiety as it is and this has me beyond terrified and I can't stop thinking he is going to die. I don't know anyone who has had this operation and I am in need to hear good outcomes to try and put my mind at ease a little before I end up with a 💔 myself. 😔 also what can I do to prepare for him coming home if all goes well? I will be home to cook and look after him but what would you suggest to help his recovery. Hubby is 52 and fairly fit apart from his type 1 diabetes so this news was a shock.

hello nightwishers …. I had quadruple heart bypass 12 years ago . I had so much pain killers I never felt any pain. I also worried I was dying. What helped me was I wanted to see the scar and speak to someone who had it done as I didn’t no anyone. Being 38 I was like a new born for the surgery.
I came out of hospital 5 days after the surgery… slow walking and not being able to blow much air. But I was t in pain. I was stuck sitting down for exactly 2 weeks. When as the consultant said I would be up and moving around about 2 weeks !
Being diabetic I did get an infection but eating lots of protein it cleared up with a vac after 6 weeks.
The surgeons do this operation 2-3 times a day everyday they are experts that was what calmed my nerves along with a pre med if his worried.
You can speak to me anytime but it really was that timing to recover. 🥰
Hi I realise it’s a worrying time, may be this will help you a little. My friend was around 70 when he had a triple bypass,as a child he lost a lung due to illness he is now 85/and still going strong.
Hi, my husband was fit as a fiddle then had a mild heart attack followed by a quadruple bypass at 65. I understand your concern and fear as I’ve been there. He came home 6 days later and walked further and further each day. My suggestion is encourage him to walk if he can. Now 10 years later he is doing well, and his scar a rarely visible.
