I had angina and received an angiogram followed by angioplasty early October 23. Have had occasional sharp chest pains since including quite a few today. Initially I thought they were due to my breaking a rib 20 odd years ago but now I am not so sure...

Hi Brussels,
Sorry to hear about the angioplasty. What have you been diagnosed with, is it stable angina? If so, were you given a GTN spray? This is a common medication given to those who have angina and can relieve chest pain symptoms such as pressure, squeezing, tightness, and stabbing.
Keep a note of how often they are happening and when, i.e., during rest, movement, etc.
All the best.

Hi Tos
Yes, I did receive a GTN spray etc after receiving the stent 2 months ago. After posting 2 days ago I realised the pains were related to eating rye bread! as I had had similar, though less pains on previous rye-bread-eating days (partly as I had eaten less of the bread. 2 days ago I ate a large piece with beans on in the morning and another large piece in the afternoon. It seems to react badly with the lansoprazole which is supposed to line the stomach to protect it from some of the other meds!

If your chest pains are becoming more frequent you should discuss with your GP. If they are ever serious it's a trip to A&E.
