if it really was flu - not just a bad cold - could be several weeks. I’ve only had it twice, both times in my teens/twenties. First time about five months, second time a week.

I looked it up symptoms of flu and cold and with a cold you not sick 🤮, I'm certain I had the flu four years ago but it was way worse I ended up in hospital for 2 weeks because I hadn't had my j*b, but this time I did have it and I still feel lousy last time I had it made me feel like this and made my teeth hurt 💔☹️.

It’s good that you’re writing here - if flue is at its worst you wouldn’t be able to ! So you must be on the mend - hooray 🤗🤗

I would but what they want is from primark x

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply toYumz199725

That's a nuisance. I'd love a jumpsuit that Primark has but I can't get there and do NOT Trust husband to buy clothes. Don't think he even knows what a jumpsuit is.

I know what you mean x I find sending a picture of it to there phone helps I did that to my brother when I wasn't up to going to town to get something from primark.

It does sound like you have a temperature. If the sickness continues ask to speak to a doctor or call 111. Sometimes if the cold is on the chest it causes a chest infection x

My breathing been good and I'm not coughing just have to keep blowing my nose gone through so many tissues filled up a whole bag. I feel a bit better think some of it is side effects from sertraline x

Deejay62 profile image
Deejay62 in reply toYumz199725

That’s good it means it’s coming out and not settling in your body but it will take some time to disappear. Hot drinks are good especially honey and lemon with ginger if you have any x

Oh no!! then after that you got sick with the flu. You poor thing. How as your heart been?

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply toDeejay62

Yeah it's been ok a few palpitations but that's probably cause I reduced my verapamil cause my cardiologist wanted me to stop it for a week but I thought its best to reduce it first and see how I get on x

Deejay62 profile image
Deejay62 in reply toYumz199725

Also your body is weak at the moment x

JeremiahObadiah profile image
JeremiahObadiah in reply toYumz199725

Maybe try very simple, non fatty food. Burgers sound a bit rich for your stomach when you’ve got a fever. Try toast with a scrape of jam on it perhaps?

The suggested foods after sickness are ‘BRAT’ , I believe. Banana, Rice, Apple,Toast. Not all at the same time!!

That's how I was feeling thought my partner had given me his cold from previous weeks till he said yours has been different turns out its covid again feeling bloody terrible.

Bless you. It's a bit like asking how long is a ball of string. We all recover at different times from the flu, colds and so on. This is the trouble when we're not well we just want to get better quick but we have to let it leave out system the way it will. However I would say viruses have a mind/time of their own. You could ask your GP just in case there's anything they can suggest.Stay warm, get well soon.

Sorry your not feeling well, I think when I had it it lasted for two weeks then I felt better after that. Hope you are soon on the mend. X

Hi YumzI do hope you continue to improve, & feel much better really soon 🤗. Don't fret about getting your Mum & Dad an Anniversary present - I'm a Mum & the best present my children can give me is that they've come to see me, and that they want to spend time with me 😍 there's so much chatter, and we always have a good ol' giggle (the grandchildren do help with that 🤩). I'm sure your Mum & Dad will just be very happy that you're well enough to be there with them - you can always get them a present at a later date 😊. Have fun xx

Hi, I had flu in the 70's. Every bone in my bod ached. It was something I'll never forget. I wouldn't have thought your symptoms were flu. It sounds as though you have caught some sort of a virus. If I were you, I'd go and speak to your nearest chemist. They are very good.

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply tomaggie80

They can't do anything for a virus can they x?

maggie80 profile image
maggie80 in reply toYumz199725

Hi, it isn't anything serious. Watching the snooker in York last week. Quite a few had the same as yourself. One of the best things for a soar throat is salt water. Salt and boiled water. Let it go lukewarm. Hold your nose and gargle. Gargle 2 or 3 times a day. Honey, lemon juice and a little warm water. Good for the chest. See how you go.

couple of weeks at least. How longs it been?

Hi, Yumz199725,

Wishing you the best! ❤️

Hi aw thanks. I didnt have a very good night and i feel really hot and sick. I have a nurse ringing me today x I'm certain I have an ear infection.

Smitty1956 profile image
Smitty1956

So sorry to hear about the possible ear infection too! It sounds like you aren’t really feeling much better yet. Hopefully, the nurse may be able to help some—hearing what is going on and maybe with a prescription.

Try to get rest/sleep—maybe some hot tea with honey—and maybe a relaxing Christmas movie.

Sending you a virtual hug and wishes for a quick recovery. ❤️💕
