I have had palpitations intermittently for a long time then realised I had AF. As it is Paroxysmal I captured it on a Scan watch and shared the ecg with my GP who confirmed the diagnosis. The GP performed blood tests to look at underlying causes and all normal. The GP has referred me for 24 hour tape and an ECHO and as my risk score was 2 started me on Edoxaban.I took an Edoxaban and later profusely vomitted and had sharp back pains so did not take any further doses. It has now been 2 days since I took Edoxaban.
I am going to contact my GP and do want to take anticoagulation therapy but wonder if Warfarin would be the better option? I am terrified of having a major bleed and know that Warfarin is tightly monitored.
Can anyone offer any advice please?

You may want to post on The AF forum which is where I usually make contact.I was diagnosed with AF ten years ago and was started on warfarin It is hard to keep in range and I was very relieved to be moved onto Apixaban several years ago. It is unlikely that Edoxaban side effects last long and it may be safer to continue until you have contacted your GP re alternative or perhaps get an urgent phone call booked to discuss alternatives. I asked a senior clinician at a conference some years ago which anticoagulant he would take and he said apixaban but this was before edoxaban was on the market I have absolutely no problems with apixaban
Thank you rosyG. I am new to this site and not finding it easy to navigate it. I didn't know that there was an AF forum. Thanks for your reply but I only just saw it. I thought I would receive a notification if anyone replied so didn't think to check til now.I wish I had read your reply before going to see the GP today.
The GP said Warfarin is only prescribed now for mechanical heart valves. He discussed prescribing either Apixaban twice daily or Rivaroxavan daily. I chose Rivaroxaban as I thought ut would be easuer to take once daily. Hope I have done the right thing.
Just found out my 24 hr tape could be in 4 weeks and ECHO in 13 weeks as both have many patients waiting. Scary.
