LASTNIGHT AT 10.40 pm on my last evening in very nice room 25 before discharge todayIts oh so quiet la la la la la

Remember Bjork

UNTIL THEN

Had the most WEIRD EXPERIENCE

nurse had brought my water jug

I was waiting for the last meds round at pm lying quietly in my horrible marshallow movey bed lol, I drifted off

AND THEN out of bed like nightmare devils or something were after me, pulse skyrocketed 135 plus, with shaking legs stumbled up corridor hanging onto the wall rail to nurses station shouting shrieking for help help HELP where is everyone

alarmed all the nurses was the talk of my section of the ward

Oh you just had a very bad dream she said

((Oncall reg doc was on his break so missed it lol

This morning first thing he said was

OPIODS

But for past 2 days only had paracetamol I said

I might as well have had some oxycodone I said lol

Nurse tested pulse and blood pressure all high during epidode

nurse Joy prob the most caring and sympathetic of tonights teams, guided me back to bed, room too hot she said but im not post op fit to push the heavy door open on that room !

She added heat to causes but called it also post op delirum or the drugs plus my lack of sleep last few days, still struggling with typing email or simple msgs but all that was a bit better today less confusion but VERY SLOW

Keep putting wrong spelling lol

Oh bless you. My temperature kept sky rocketing after surgery. I was still in ICU attached to an external pacemaker and waiting for mine to be implanted, but they wouldn't do it until they were sure that I didn't have an infection. After 2 weeks in there it finally settled down and I got the pacemaker and went to the Cardiac ward, only for my temperature to go through the roof again.

They never got to the bottom of it, but I put it down to my age.

It's all a bit scary and overwhelming, but you will be home soon and your recovery has already started.

Just look for your 1% improvement every day, it will be there 😊

I overheated two days in. They got an engineer to turn the radiator off.

Please think about 10 to 12 weeks recovery, but you will see improvement every day or two. Accept that you need the recovery but the prize is you get your life back. I still gasp at the day I realized I was well and truly mended. Your turn will come. Just be cool and don’t overdo stuff.

Things must be pretty good if you look to be home in just 5 days.

They seem to think I did wellbUt first night home not good, long story culminating in another panicky palpitations shakey terror scenario followed by massive emotional outburst

But exactly a week ago NOW theyd begun

Ill be back here later

PS battled all night not to give in to oxycodon liquid

This morning realised my last paracetamol was 11 pm last night so all night till 7am

Tell my heartbeat to calm down please lol

Cldnt get thru this without you all

❤️

That’s day one day done and you need at least 50 days minimum to heal. I took 90 days. You have ditched the worn out valve and you have a new one on board. I slept in the spare bedroom, with the bedside light on. Then got on the sofa to snooze through the day. You don’t want any pressures nor activity for a while.

If you feel desperate then you have the BHF nurses to refer to. I also had the hospital nurses on the end of the phone but maybe that’s not commonly an option.

Just think of the effort that medics made to get you here.

Just think of the day when you realize you are much recovered and you have your life back

Sounds as if your adrenal gland decided to have a bit of a temper tantrum! Mine did after an op and I could have punched anyone who came near me (elderly female).

When discharged, it used to happen all the time, and I would walk it off. I wore a path on the lawn! Long walks with the dogs - had to up their feed but they were really fit!

I dont know what exercise you are allowed to do yet, but just stretching your legs and arms may be enough to tell the adrenal gland to shut up! Good luck!

oh crikey, what a horrid experience. Hope they get to the bottom of it!

Possibly not going home just yet?

Loved Bjork 🤫

I went sleepwalking out of my ward one night in hospital and woke in a small corridor I could not get out of at either end! I was so confused & scared. I was found about 1/2hr later 😳

OMG what a terrifying experience! The night staff were not unduly concerned and I was lucky to go home on the Sunday pm where I now am

Been a few problems but today have been given 30 mins on phone With one of the BRILLIANT BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION CARDIAC NURSES

Helped both me and Pete with sound advice a ton of reassurance and so much kindness

I cant thank Jane enough
