Ep Study concerns
you haven’t had any replies to your query and as this forum is usually answered by several people, perhaps it’s that we don’t know what an EP study is - certainly I don’t. Can you give more detail?
Sorry, I can't help you. I have read references to it, and my understanding was that it is done to help decide on/plan an ablation, but I could be wrong.Best of luck.
My husband had an EP study but it was done at the same time he was having an ablation. We don't really know much about it as his ablation was quite extensive and he was under GA for some time, but I think a camera is inserted to look at the structure of your heart for research purposes, though it's quite possible I've got that wrong! My husband had 2 entry points in his groin, one for the ablation procedure & the other for the camera, you should have received some paperwork telling you what this is for & how it is done, if you haven't got this I would phone the hospital for advice.
Good luck 👍
I've had 2 EP studies both directly before a Catheter Ablation. Both were to treat Atrial Fibrillation. The first one was conducted under General anesthetic so can't really tell you about what went on during the procedure. I was on the afternoon list so had to stay in over night while they monitored the entry site in my groin.
The second one was done under sedation so I could hear the team chatting. No pain or discomfort during the EP study. I was able to go home the same day. Was told to take it easy for a few days while the wound healed.
Hope that helps
Hi I’ve had loads of studies done on my heart. They will probably explain what the study is about and how the information will be used. They know your situation anyway that’s why you’ve been chosen. Don’t be nervous, it’s them that should be nervous because they need you for their study.
Sometimes they might want to follow through with your care. So even if you change hospitals they will still keep tabs on how you’re getting on medically. After they might give you a paper with all the study information and get you to sign it. They keep a copy and give you a copy. I believe in every study they do your name is confidential, but they might need your age ethnicity weight height etc. You have a choice whether you want to take part or not.
I usually take part because I could help others. But it’s up to you no one can make you take part, you have to agree.
I forgot I was on the entresto trial until my HF doctor reminded me the other day.
All the best with it. Let us know how you get on.
