hi you lovely people. I have a cardiologist appointment coming up soon regarding ectopic beats that can last 2 weeks at a time. But this last few weeks iv been getting little bouts of what I think is AFIB.???
Iv had 3 ablations for AFIB in the past and know exactly what AFIB feels like but these bouts feel a little different.??
My cardialive machine says possible AFIB with H/R 150 but the ECG looks more like atrial flutter because it resembles a saw blade. According to images iv googled anyway.!!! But iv just realised the battery needs changing because its 3 years old so I’m going to put a new one in and take another ecg iff/when I have another episode and hopefully alls good and hopefully it was because of the battery.?
Question is Do I mention all this extra stuff to cardiologist or just stick to the ectopics bit.? I don’t want to bundle another load of problems on the cardiologist and put him/her in a bad mood.?🤪
Thanks for listening
All the best
Ron👍

If it were me I would stick with the ectopics but as I could tell as you usually can the appointment was nearly finished I would say and while I am here and then fire the other things at them at least then if you do put them in a bad mood it will be near the end of the appointment you will tell when the timing is right to add it on but I would mention everything while I was there
I would suggest always mentioning anything that is related in case it provides either a fuller view of current issue or enables early identification of an additional issue.
Do you have a 6 lead Kardia? I believe these will enable the identification of A Flutter (the saw tooth profile). If so, print this out / forward by e-mail, a copy to show the cardiologist.
When I was symptomatic with AFlutter, it really did feel like a constant flutter in the heart, what was always referred to as “butterflies” when we were nervous when young. Initially I was diagnosed with anxiety as that is exactly how it felt. Even to the point I was prescribed (but never took glad to say) Valium / diazepam as I wanted relief from the symptoms. Only when I ended up in A&E for an unrelated issue did they identify the A Flutter.
Hope you get a full diagnosis and appropriate advice / treatment
Thankyou speed. Iv got the little cardia finger gadget. Iv had it a few years now and only recently realised Iv never changed the battery.!!!! I’m hoping it’s just AFIB and ectopics. I can’t handle anything else, Iv got enough to keep my eye on already.👍
I have appointment on Tuesday and I have alot to mention so I'm probably gona put mine a bad mood but definitely mention everything could help them with there investigation into what's causing the ectopic beats x hope your appointment goes well.
Hi jetcatI would make a list of all the points I want to put across; the cardiologist can then see that there are other matters on your mind, and will give you space to put these over. It will probably also help the cardiologist with a clearer picture of the problem. The extra information may either preclude some diagnosis, or open up a new avenue. Either way, it can only help to have all of the information.
My view is that the cardiologist needs all the information to be able to help you properly, otherwise it's like asking someone to make a cake and not giving them all the ingredients. You can always print a cooy of an ECG to take with you.Recently my health changed and an almost definite reason for my AF, which was worsening, came to light. I had undergone some tests in August and September and was waiting for an appointment to discuss the results. I emailed his secretary who passed on the info, he wrote to me and all things cardiology are now on hold until the other thing is sorted out.
Before I had my Kardia I always asked fir copies of ECGs and took them to my last appointment, he was pleased that I did as it gave him a snapshot of what my heart was doing at that time.
You're welcome. You sound like me, wanting to make best use of their time, and worrying about giving them information that may not be needed. It's quite helpful if you can take a written list of symptoms, they can usually read it quite quickly, it's faster for them than trying to explain verbally. If they need more info they can ask you.
Do you have a record of your Kardia ECGs on your phone? If so, make a note of the date of any that you get when you have the symptoms and you should be able to show him.
All the best, I hope your appointment sorts things out for you.
