hi I had a widow maker on 11 Aug this year and have also got unstable angina.I’m at the max meds that I can have and have been urgently referred back to cardiology last week.I know how important excercise is and losing weight.I’ve been trying to go walking every day but today I was breathless and had chest pains so stopped.I don’t know what I should be doing as I’ve had no cardio rehab (they discharged me cos of my UA) just hoping there are people in my situation to give me advice thanks in advance

I suggest you talk your situation through with the BHF Hearth Helpline nurse who will be able to give you professional advice.

Thanks il give them a call

hi your cardiologist is best placed to advice as they will know your specific circumstances. Hopefully you’ll get an appointment soon so you can discuss all this.

There are people here who have had heart attacks and do exercise / had rehab but all cases are individual.

For now listen to your body and stop when it’s telling you to. Give yourself time, see what they say about your unstable angina.

Good luck👍

glad that you are on the right side of your op. Please can we not use the term 'widow maker'. It puts the fear of God into me, I am waiting the long slow wait for tests that are heading to me having this condition. I am waking up at night in great fear and anxiety when I think of it being a 'Widow maker' so please. Someone tell me some more hopeful news.

I hope you progress well.

I share your feelings about the term ' widow maker'.

My husband 12 years ago, was found to have an almost completely blocked, left anterior descending LAD, artery.

He had a stent inserted and is still very much with me 😊

Good to hear, I had a left sided stent in February and at 72 well 12years sounds fine to me. I also hate that term as its a bit grim reaper type saying.

I had HA in ine area (can’t remember what it’s called now), they also found I had a nearly completely block LAD, which was also stented. That was three months ago.
