Hi Picass

I am sorry to hear you are having problems.

If you have unstable angina eg worsening and more frequent chest pain that is not relieved with 3 lots of GTN sprays 5 minutes apart and at rest you need to seek medical advice

Ring 111

We are all individuals and respond to medication differently

There are several angina medications that can help however I suggest you duscuss this with your GP or Cardiologist

This BHF information lists some other possible medications that may help

You say YOU came off bisoprolol. Do you mean your GP stopped you. And is your GP prescribing alternative? I would suggest you contact your GP or call 111 and get help as soon as possible. Do not self diagnose.

Doctor knew I came off it and prescribed carvedilol instead but my blood pressure went too low hence now I am on nicorandil

Hi,you really need to speak to your doctor/ cardiologist. Good luck with everything and milkfairy has given you good advice and a link for you to look at. I know its hard because I went through problems before the cardiologist found the appropriate meds for me to take. It is controlled at the moment. Last Saturday I Started with angina while shopping in morisons I ended up sleepy and in some pain most of the day. I couldn't make tea for us. At these times my husband just takes the lead and doesn't panic anymore. It has taken a long time for me to be at this stage. Please contact the doctor and try and contact your cardiologist. X best wishes Sheena x

How can you tell the difference between angina and heart attack

Milkfairy profile image

The only way to tell the difference between unstable angina and a heart attack is to be seen by a doctor, have a 12 lead ECG and a blood test to check your Troponin levels

This means a trip to hospital.
