Echocardiogram report

I’ve just received a report following my echocardiogram. It mentions left ventricle systolic impairment with mild AR, mild MS, mild MR and mild to moderate TR. I’ve googled the terminology but not sure whether I should be worried or not.

ACE inhibitor has been added to my Bisoprolol and Digoxin. I have a 24 hour monitor planned for this week and will receive a consultant appointment. The report says that I was in AF at the time of the scan with heart rate in excess of 140 so another echocardiogram will take place in a couple of months time to scan my heart when my heart rate has settled.

I’m sorry I can’t really offer an insight into all of your queries but I can give you some idea on the mild AR, mild MS and mild TR front. My mum has these however, because she is asymptomatic she does not require treatment. I believe that it is only treated if you are showing symptoms. Unless this is the case, I have been told by her GP that it is not a cause for concern.

I hope others can come along to provide some more info on your question.

All the best.

As far as I am aware: AR = Aortic Valve Reflux/regurgitation ( leakage through the aortic valve between the left ventricle and aorta). MS = Mitral Valve Stenosis ( narrowing of the mitral valve, between the left hand side chambers of the heart)

TR = Tricuspid Valve Reflux/regurgitation ( lekage through the valve between the chambers of the right side of the heart

as another member commented, these are common and as long as they are mild or slight they are usually not treated - they can cause "heart murmurs", a difference in the sounds made during heart beat

a little background reading on heart structure and the function of the valves might help you understand this better and allay any concerns
