In our daily lives we all get things we want to moan about so I thought a platform to do so. It's not for matters that should be on the forum but things like "I got home from Waitrose and realised I had forgotten my Amex card" or "I brought a set of plugs and got home to find they were the wrong ones"!

So my starter for 10! I have talked with my electricity supplier half-a-dozen times in the past week. Each time I have to listen about what I can do on their website, that doesn't cover my situation, and dodgy MOH (musak on hold). Last time I thought everything was finally sorted. No it wasn't! Today I got an email with the wrong commencement of supply asking me for the readings I have given them twice previously! What's so difficult to understand? Grrr...

Oooohh Waitrose, get you.... Good choice thought they do some very nice Italian whites's, nearly as good as Aldi. I think we are all waiting for the bomb to go off regarding energy suppliers. Mine went TU and I was put onto "Octopus Energy", good name they keep hiding under rocks whenever I try and get any sense out of them. Refused to sign up for a direct debit until they can give me evidence of what my previous balance was, which seems a massive hurdle for them, got no idea of how much they are charging or what the current situation is, what a load of c**p. Some people must be dreading the bill arriving from their "new" suppliers.

I use Waitrose because it is nearest to my house. Some of the Essentials range introduced after the 2008 banking crash are cheaper than Sainsburys and the Co-op the next nearest.

I have been to an Aldi once but found the staff disinterested and rude. The German ones are very different.

In Northern Ireland we don't have Waitrose, Aldi or Morrison's so have to make do with the wines from Tesco 😅😅. Happy Christmas to you all p.s. hope you get your power supply sorted. Take care

Ooh I love this post! Nothing like a good moan to make you feel better. I can't think of anything new to moan about, but I was far from pleased when the new saucepan I bought had a label on it saying, Do not use on a high heat!

A friend has just switched his utility supplier same experience etc as you Hidden

That made me laugh out loud jeanjeannie ! I like this thread already 😁

Same - went to look in John Lewis as fed up of "non stick" pans sticking. Salesman was extolling the virtues of their wonderful range, but said "of course you have to be careful not to let it get too hot or it will lose the non stick coating". Fantastic.

jeanjeannie50 profile image

There doesn't appear to be quality in any products today does there? The saucepan that I bought wasn't non stick, but stainless steel. I'd never buy the non stick type! Where would that coating disappear too if it came off I wonder!! John Lewis used to have a good name, but like all stores (that are left) appear to have gone downhill with the quality of their stock.

The shop where I bought mine was privately owned and not cheap. I raged and said I was going to take it back, but never did. I do use it on a high heat, how could anyone not bring a saucepan with it's contents to the boil.

My moan. Having just dealt with a house move on behalf of my parents who both have Alzheimer’s. The fun and games that go with acting on behalf of someone. Some companies have put ridiculous ‘customer service’ solutions in place now. Reliance on use of a mobile app, or walking through 27 options by phone that potentially leaves you going round in circles or getting cut off and online chat bots that provide random useless answers. It truly does my head in. Bring back the days of a human voice answering the phone. It feels like technology gone mad. They really have not thought about ‘all’ the customers at all. The worst offender - The DWP! They appear to have had a half hearted attempt at doing things online and the person I did eventually speak to gave me duff information. So I still haven’t sorted that one out lol. Building up my mental strength to start that process again. Moan over. That felt good 🤣. Have a good day everyone 😁

Hi Michael. Our energy company has gone into special administration (whatever that is?!) so we'll just wait and see. Brilliant post and it's really good to see so many people getting things off their chests!

All the very best.

Dear MichaelJH,

Being a fully paid up member of the Grumpy Old Man’s club { I have both badge and paper work } I feel that I can add something to your post to us misunderstand group {ladies included}

Just come back for shopping and being very British did my turn in cueing up at the checkout { my thinking is that if you use one with a human on it that your saving their job }.

After loading my items on the suspect conveyor belt, I proceeded to the end to pack said items.

As usual being polite I enquired after the checkout ladies health and Christmas plans.

I am so sorry if you were behind me as her reply was both lengthy and extremely detailed.

Maybe I should have been a bit more interested, but really I couldn’t care that her great aunt Mary brought her rubbish gifts and that her son breaks out in boils at just the site of a Brussel sprout!

Not only was I stuck listening to this drivel spilling out from what must have been a few years old Christmas jumper clad operative, but she then picked up various items of mine and told me that either she or her mother {put any family title here } hated it/was to expensive for what it was/would never buy that again.

Bags packed, bill paid she said merry Christmas to me which I didn’t reply too.

As I walked of she said to her next victim “ God he’s a bit miserable, he needs to get some Christmas sprite”

On my way out I had a crash course on the automatic till and ripped up my “ save the human worker “ membership.

Take care and keep well

Christmas songs especially Paul McCartney! And as for Chris Rhea, he must have one hell of a journey, he’s been driving home for the last 6 weeks 😂

10 years or so, my 90 year old mum asked for his C.D. she has been gone 3 years. That was a long time ago when we first heard it.

Sky TV are unbelievable. They supply phone services. Good luck in even finding a number to phone them. I have got through before now to hear a message saying "We are really busy now, Goodbye".

Got through, but not very helpful, expected my husband 70 to keep going up to do something to the sky box. In the end they came out and changed the box.

Have you tried ringing 111 lately. It takes well over 5 minutes to listen to the covid advice, the warnings, the umpteen menus before you even get to "If you are a patient and need help". Oh and go to the website. My husband like many others does not use a computer or have a smart phone yet he still gets texts o n his ancient mobile phone from the hospital telling him to go online to read his appointment lette r.

When ever I see something like this, I'm always reminded of the 'That's Life' sketch about a complaint to the Electricity Company (nationalised in those days) for everything going wrong with their life.

Not saying yours is not a serious issue - it just reminds me of that sketch, and we were told privatisation would make everything better!

Hi, This is Jobsworth meets you couldn’t make it up.Every January I pay for a garden waste bin, £62 this year, collected once a fortnight. All goes well January to mid October, my builder puts some sawdust and a 4 inch square of new wood on the top of the garden rubbish in October, while sawdust is acceptable the tiny bit of wood is apparently unacceptable, the bin isn’t emptied. It would have taken a second to throw the small bit of wood on the ground but I accept I have transgressed and put the bin out the next collection date, again bin not emptied.

I complain, promised it will be emptied, nothing. Next collection date I put the bin out again. Not emptied again although all the neighbours ones have been. By this time bin contents are a tad ripe. I begin to suspect I am being victimised for the Square of wood.

I make a formal complaint, a guy from the waste company comes to the door and tells me they are no longer emptying the bin as I haven’t paid.

I ask how then it has been emptied from Jan to October if I haven’t paid, I produce proof of payment, he is very confused!! To be fair they send a van to empty the bin the next day.

I then get an email blaming it on Covid.

The bin is due to be emptied next week so we shall see?
