anxious about CAD - MRI result

Hi all,

Does anyone know if a cardiac MRI would pick up coronary heart disease , or at least see some part of the arteries?

I’m awaiting a CT scan with dye to look into CAD, but my consultant thinks it’s unlikely as I’m 32 , I am overweight and an ex-smoker so I do have some risk factors.

My cardiac MRI done in January showed mildly dilated left ventricle with mildly impaired funtion at 54% with hypokinetic inferior wall and inferior septum. I do get chest and shoulder pain on exertion at times but not all the time.

I know we shouldnt google , but anything I look at seems to show that hypokinesia is caused by CAD or a cardiomyopathy. My cardiologist has said very unlikely a cardiomyopathy.

I didn’t have the adenosine stress agent during the scan as I was anxious and just had the gadolinium dye which shows no myocardial infarction, fibrosis or infiltrarion.

I’ve actually convinced myself now that I’ve got CAD , which has already caused me panic attacks today with chest , shoulder and Jaw pain. I’ve calmed down now.

I was told by the radiologist prior to the scan that the MRI would show up my arteries and even minor vessel disease.

So I’m not really that sure why I need a CTCA

Just wanting to know really if the MRI without adenosine would should major CAD or blockages. Just to note the reason for the MRI was palpitations and tachycardia post covid and my consultant believes I had a degree of myocarditis based on my symptoms and inverted T-waves on an ecg when I was having chest pain and attended A&E. my ECG has since normalised and the MRI did not show any signs of myocarditis - although the MRI was not done until 3 months after the initial chest pain episode in October 2022 when I had Covid

My cardiologist does think that’s the cause of all this.

I had a recent echo in July which was normal. And showed my left ventricle had returned to normal and my ejection fraction was at 60%

I know the MRI is more clearer and sensitive but I can feel my symptoms getting better and I’m sure the echo still would of showed if my ventricle was dilated.

Sorry for the long post
