Hello everyone,,,,I've always had sone sort of heart palpitations in the past,,,mainly in stressful situations,,,was able to breath them out and continue as normal,, well last week I had a load of stress and was quite upset,,,then omg did the palpitations come,,,could I breath them away nope,,,4 days of suffering I then ended up in hospital hooked up to machines, had xrays, had magnesium drip,,,,was told I'm having Bigeminy,,,,prev to this say 2 weeks before I was put on Bisoprolol 1.25 to help treat anxiety and calm the heart... anyway in hospital I was put on 2.5mg and that helped while I was there,,,,but on return home I was told by GP to have 1 25 in morn and same in eve so I can get used to them,,,,,,things seem ok it's been a week now, but Im sooooo tired a few hrs after taking 1st dose and my brain just wants to sleep again even though ive had a small nap of 1 hr,,,,things seem sort of settled,,,but I'm still feeling worried about all this because it's my heart,,,I'm only 49 don't smoke or drink I'm not overweight,,,,,and eat healthy etc,,,,should I be less anxious.

Hello :-)

It is no good me saying you should be anxious because so many of us when we our hearts get mentioned we get anxious

But the main thing to remember is you have had tests done they have given you a diagnosis and medication and you are now under their radar which that is a good thing :-)

As for the Bisoprolol one of the side effects is making you feel tired but for most even though it can take a while our bodies adjust to them :-) x

Hi Bekind,,,,,,yeah I had tests done in march because I was suffering dizzy spells,,,,wasn't sure if it was from Labyrinthitis or heart,,,,had a holter monitor 24 hrs,,,,showed minimal ectopics which sorted themselves,,,,was an advisory for Bisoprolol if became a nuisance,,,, also had a heart scan,,,,,which showed normal function and all looked really healthy,,,been through a lot of stress lately and the issue has become much more apparent,,,,,so I put it down to the anxiety and stress,,,,,but told now to take the Bisoprolol divided for the time being,

Hello :-)

You have had quite a few tests there to rule things out which is good they have been done

Stress and anxiety can make people have symptoms so maybe try and see what you can do to help with your stress levels you might find some improvement if you can :-) x

👋 hello... I'll see what I can do about the stress element,,,,I'm sure I still have vestibular issues altogether om now confused because of the heart issue,,,,i don't particularly want to stay on this medication, apparently the palpable are secondary to bigeminy, maybe ive has this issue for a good while or number of yrs, and may have to stay on it,,,,,will need a review with Gp in a week anyway,,,😊

Hello :-)

It is nit as easy as said I know trying to deal with stress levels as I live with it all the time and that can make you feel tired without adding medication to it

I know how Bisoprolol makes you feel I think it maybe 50/50 how many of us struggle with the side effect if feeling tired but maybe stay in the day and say well I am on it for now but further down the line who knows I might be able to change it as you never know

I think when we re struggling with something thinking this is forever makes it feel worse so I tell myself just for now seems to somehow work better :-)

Good luck with your review and let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi. I Agree stress it a terrible thing,,,I've been poorly since end Dec 22, loads of tests etc lost my job, my partner struggled to come to terms with it all plus my illness, so that really had an Impact on my health,,,,going to hospital last week was a wake up call, but this has been an underlying issue I'm sure,, I'll let you know review etc you take care too 🙂

Hello :-)

I am sorry you are going through such a lot that has cost you your job and struggles for your partner I know my Husband when I had my heart attacks and then Bypasses Infront of me stayed strong to support me but I have been told since he was struggling to and breaking down it can be very hard for partners to

But lets stay positive here and say this is just for now and stay in the day and leave what happens to deal with when and if we have to easier said than done I know but you have got this you will get there and hope that Doctors appointment is a good start for you :-) x

Bisoprolol really takes it out of me. Come afternoon I'm finished and feel like I need a nap. I'm sure it just takes time to get used to it.

I had never heard of Bigeminy until I had to call out the paramedics. Unfortunately because I have Bradycardia and Long QT Syndrome they cant give me the recommended treatment. Hopefully your body will get used to the medication and you will start to feel less tired soon 🤞

I was the same at first and it settled as body got used to it. Actually the morning and night split didn’t work that well for me but seems to be a popular way of thinking from what I’ve read and conversation with the doc.

It's not just me then, Dr's said do divided for a cppl of weeks to make sure I can tolerate,,,,,rest heart rate now 55/58 as opposed to 68, are you on 2.5 a day

TriumphLover profile image
TriumphLover in reply toSpooks74

55/58 seems like a good rate to me!!! Maybe stick with the split if it’s working for you!

I was on 2.5mg prior to the surgery 5 weeks ago. I’m on 1.5mg now. But to be honest I have to assess everything one healed up from the surgery.

Hi ya,,,I get confused and worried about it all,,,,especially when heart rate dropped I thought I'm die, a lot of stress has brought All this on,, I'm pretty sure it was underlying anyway, and the stress last week was the final straw, I hope all is ok with you and you heal well,

I'm not sure if you're a suitable candidate, but 100mg flecainide sorts out my episodes of bigeminy (and other ectopics) within about 2 hours.

I take 2.5mg bisoprolol daily too. If my ectopics are really bad, I take a daily dose of flecainide (50mg X 2) for a few days after the initial PiP (100mg).

Hello John No one mentioned Flecainide to me that sounds intresting,,,i was just put on bisoprolol,1.25,,, prev propanalol to curb the anxiety but that did not agree with me,I couldn't breathe properly which made my anxiety worse, only had 2 tablets aswell. So went to Bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket thing,,,,but the amount of stress I endured last week was the final straw, so consequently now on the divided dose,,,I don't like it,,,,I don't want to be on it,,,,but I'll have to get used to it,,,,,hopefully mot forever,,,,the side effects are a bit strange,,,,very tired and cold and vivid dreams .

Hi All

New to this forum.

Diagnosed with CAD in March. Various tests to steering extent. Dissapointed to note that 6 months later I am still waiting a care plan from Consultant, despite my chasing. Any suggestions?

Hello Bigeminy is just a way of saying an Ectopic every second beat, I have been through the range of Tri and Bi and was hospitalised when Ectopics got to every other beat. Cardio said it was causing a low blood flow out my heart !!!. I do take 7.5mg Bisoprolol which helped control it, but it was when I started Entresto that it improved beyond anything I could have hoped for. I now rarley notice even if I get a run of ectopics so try not to worry they can be sorted and Bisoprolol is the first line of defence.

Take care and try to stay relaxed being anxious is a recognised trigger for Ectopics.

regards
