diagnostic tap

I’ve had fluid on my left lung for about 3 months it was being treated with furosemide at the last X-ray was only marginally better so they are referring my to the respiratory team who have said about a diagnostic tap has anyone had one if so what happens? Thank you xx

I know of someone who has previously had fluid drained from their lungs. I believe a small incision was made to the side of their chest where a needle was inserted to drain the fluid using a drainage tube. I have provided a link below which breaks down the process.
