Hi not been on here for a while just looking for some guidance so thanks in advance, After recent routine hospital appointment(I have a leaky heart valve for years)I was told theres some significant changes to heart but nothing's been explained just put me on Amlodipine 5mg daily for high blood pressure I didn't know I had and cant get doctors appointment for this and I'm starting to over think it all.

hi monitoring your BP in meantime can go two ways 1. It’ll give you knowledge and peace of mind that the amlodipine is working or needs adjusting. Or 2. Some can obsess and keep checking your BP.

But may be worth getting yourself a BP monitor at home if you don’t have one and keep a record of readings. Will be helpful to your GP / doctor too.

I can't offer any advice on your medication, but it would drive me nuts to be prescribed something but not know why, what it's for and what the expected outcome would be......so I understand your predicament.

You don't say why you can't get a Dr's appointment, but I really think whoever prescribed this has a duty to explain it properly, especially since very naturally you're "thinking it over"

I'd start by calling the office of whichever Dr did this and explaining you're situation and how it's making you feel and ask them for advice.

Ve ry sorry that you have had this report about your heart .Imsure your doctors will be arranging further treatment for you .Persevere
