hi all,

waiting for consultants to come back after scans and they say left ventricular systolic function is impaired by 50% with abnormal longitudinal systolic function.

many suffer with this? Any tips and finding myself more and more dizzy, tired legs and always sleepy.

thank you guys

Andy

My lvef was 25% when i was discharged. A month ago had another echocardiogram. Reports came back at 27%

I was born with a malformed ribcage.( I inherited it, both ny mother and one cousin had it as well.) The radiologist said ot was difficult to be accurate because of it.

Base line is supposed to be 49% plus.

Thanks Blackknight57 . When you say 49% baseline - is that to say that 50% is not so good?

It’s really confusing and the cardiac unit are so slow.

I had my echocardiogram done last week and my ejection fraction was 50 %. That is 5% less than previous year. They said I have mild left ventricular dysfunction. I have an appointment with my doctor this week. I am just nervous what he is going to say. Sometimes I feel like I am out of breath sometimes I am fine. Now Iam all paranoid if all this is related to 50% ejection fraction. I will update what my dr says

Hi Andy, EF can be confusing. It is the % of the left ventricle that gets emptied on each beat. 50-55% is “low normal” 55-80% is normal. It is not clear what “impaired by 50%” means. If your EF is 50% then that is not too bad. If your EF is 50% of normal then perhaps not as good, but not clear what that means as “normal” is a range not a figure.

Hi SB,

Thank you for this. Results letters can be very confusing.

Appreciate the reply

Sorry to be a bit late to the party but i was diagnosed 3 months ago at an ultrasound scan and was put on several meds. My EF was found to be 10% and a blood clot showed up in my heart as well. Skip forward to 12th November when an MRI scan showed no signs of the clot and my EF was up slightly to 13%. On 15th November an ICD implant happens and i'm recovering slowly but surely. Getting out walking everyday and i don't honestly feel much different than before the op. I just wanted to add my situation to this thread.
