Ejection Fraction and LSVD

Hi Guys, i am now 9 weeks post MI and was starting to feel a little more positive and relaxed however yesterday i got the results of my echo which read 50% EF and mild LVSD this was given in a bit of rush so no real time to discuss the meaning of this does anyone have any experience or thoughts on these results?

Thanks

Nick

Hi

Just a note to help put your mind at ease a little, your EF is just below the normal range 55% or above and your left ventricular systolic dysfunction LVSD means that the left chamber of the heart does not contract fully to pump the blood out of the chamber( this is quite common post MI patients).

I`m no medic but my thoughts are and it`s easy to say I don`t think you have to much to worry about with these results.

Regards

Steve

Hi - mine was about same as yours when tested after heart attack 18 months ago. I can only agree with Steve and confirm that it has caused me no issues at all. With rehab and time you will unlikely be ever aware of this measure.

HI. I have been discharged today following a heart attack (and angioplasty). My echo gave results of 45% and the cardiologist was happy enough with that to discharge me. He said it showed some damage but not extensive and I have been given the appropriate meds and lifestyle advice to prevent another attack.

Hi, that's a good result. My husbands EF is 30%, however, a lot of consultants will say its just a number. If you're keeping well that's good news. Best wishes x
