I believe redness at the injection site can be a side effect of the va*cine and should settle after a while. Did you get it today?

No I got it Tuesday x

If it wasn’t there at the time of having the va*cine, perhaps it’s safer to call 111 and see what they suggest x

After having it on Tuesday it was sooo red but not whole arm was just one section and it was swollen and it bled x I've taken two paracetamol so I will see if that helps.

Keep an eye on it. If the redness gets worse, and you get new symptoms such as swelling or otherwise, might be a good idea to ring 111 for peace of mind x

You should report this on the Yellow Card Systemyellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

Did you get it at a vac centre or docs. Can you telephone wherever you got the shot? Not sure but I wouldn't have thought it should look like that not since Tuesday,

I had it at pharmacist x it's gone down since I took paracetamol x

Keep yourself dosed up with paracetamol for a day or so xx

It’s got to be from the injection which has only been done a couple of days ago so is early days. It’s not going to go overnight, l don’t think, and will take a few days to disappear. It mst be very painful. Ask 111 what they think and if it’s ok to put a cold compress on to get the swelling down. Poor you, l would be worried as well. I know lots of people have a very bad arm. Love and prayers. Xx

Thanks, yeah I had it Tuesday and it's still red sore and hot but I don't feel ill so that's good x

You could ask the Pharmacist if you are worried,,but l think it should start to go down by tomorrow. Hope so anyway. Xx

I'd have it checked it can cause some redness I've seen but never that far away from the area.

It will probably clear up but you should get advice. I developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome from that we cannot mention. 29 months on I am still unwell with it.

Why can’t we mention it. Or have I been asleep too long.?😜

3 years ago on here there were nasty arguments, conspiracy theorists and downright misinformation, so BHF took the decision to automatically block any direct reference to it. If you see a post that says “oops, this has been deleted “ you can bet the poster mentioned the c word.

Oh i understand now.!! What a weird world we live in.? I’m getting more confused with life the older I get and I’m only 56.!!

Alison_L profile image
Alison_L in reply to Jetcat

I'm 62, it gets worse lol

Jetcat profile image
Jetcat in reply to Alison_L

I was hoping you wasn’t going to say that.?? But im starting to get confused with how things work now a days.? Example = my car was parked outside our house last week with permit in window all hunky dory. Unknown to me someone in a van parked straight opposite my car and half way on double yellow lines.!!!! A bus couldn’t get by and had been there over ten minutes stuck in the road.

a traffic warden was walking by and noticed what was happening and knocked on my door and politely asked me if I’d move my car so the bus could get by.! My first thought was why should I.? So I told the warden that there is a van parked illegally on a road on double yellow lines with no permit and you’re asking me to move my car.😡 I said what would happen if I hadn’t have answered my door.? He replied with the van would have to be recovered from the road if they couldn’t get intouch with the owner.! I reluctantly moved my car and asked the warden if he was going to issue a ticket on the van.? He didn’t seem interested in issuing a ticket but would keep a eye on the van, so I politely told him never ever knock on my door again to ask me move my car but yet let the offender off Scot free.!! I later checked my CCTV and the van was there a for a hour and ten minutes and a ticket was never issued.!! I am chasing it up with parking services where I live. But I honestly think the world is going mad.?? Nothing makes sense.!!

Well, sadly, in America at that time, we had a president who suggested that people should drink bleach. That is simply crazy, but we can still say the C-word out loud. As I recall, at least in the US, that time period was both scary and crazy.

Alison_L profile image
Alison_L in reply to Smitty1956

It's only the BHF forum that's banned it - other HealthUnlocked forums it's still fine, but with over 44,000 members this one is huge, so there are bound to be some that disagree. I would say it was fairly crazy over here, but yes, we didn't have to cope with your president!

Lol! What a sweet way to refer to our additional burden at that time. I laughed out loud when I read your last sentence. There are always blessings to see if we only take the time to look.

Have a lovely day, Alison! ❤️

I’d get it checked out to be honest. It’s probably nothing but at least you’ll have peace of mind Yum.👍

My arm was like that with my very first one. There was a very hard lump that was easily the size of a goose egg. The hot redness took about a week to go, but the lump took 5 weeks to go.I told them about the reaction and now I always have it much higher on my arm, 2 to 3 inches from the top.

Do contact someone, if it sets your mind at rest it's worth it.

JennyRx profile image
JennyRx in reply to scentedgardener

It should only be 2 - 3” from the top anyway. Speaking as a vaccinator with 20 years experience.

scentedgardener profile image
scentedgardener in reply to JennyRx

I didn't know that, but after my experience I always ask them to do it high up. In all honesty I've usually had things like flu jabs in the middle of my upper arm, perhaps people aren't getting such good training as you had. Thanks for passing that info on.

Were you tought to aspirate?

MountainGoat52 profile image

The advice I've been given is to take Paracetamol and keep well hydrated. That has certainly worked for me, though each time "the troops" (my immjne system) roll into action and I get seriously wierd tingling sensations in my arm as soon as 15 minutes after being jabbed. 😯

JennyRx profile image

as a vaccinator we tell patients any reaction like this call GP or 111. So I would do so

I'm sorry you have the fear ... not surprising really after the last 3.5 years I have seen a fair few people both with and without the v catch 'c' this variety is a different variant and a very different beast to the initial ones and the government advice updated also

I have an extremely venerable adult in my home, and know the fear well as we have been offered it again recently and have just been issued with test kits ... AGAIN

Wishing you well x

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply to Cymrucurious

Ah thanks for replying hun x it's actually flu one not C one. Yeah it's horrible having to worry about being vulnerable I'm guessing you have to be careful so you don't expose them to anything it's like that with myself and with my brother he's soooo vulnerable that he catches a cold from not even going outside x

Cymrucurious profile image

Absolutely it's been a very long time now ... I know it has taken a mental toll

At least you will have a flu free winter, fingers crossed

Aspiration no longer recommended by WHO. Also you really shouldn’t be near blood vessels if you’re in the correct part of deltoid. So we’re told definitely not to.
