Unmentionable Statistics

Engineer46 profile image
29 Replies

People may have differing views about government actions taken in the years 2020 and 2021, but statistics are often "adapted" to fit a particular narrative, which led BHF to censor the use of a particular word on the forum, a word that is still banned even today.

An episode of "More Or Less" on Radio 4 this week about the statistics was quite informative. The specific item starts at 6'30":

bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001q0s6

Of course, if you believe that the BBC is part of an establishment plot, don't bother to listen to it!

Keep safe! (As we used to say in those "missing years").

Thank you for sharing this information.

An actuary explained the statistics in a factual and objective way.

I found it very helpful and reassuring. It also disproved some of sensationalist misinformation that has been circulating on social media.

Nothing should be 'a closed subject' for discussion tho surely? Letting the facts be shared and discussed , using our own experience and knowledge?

Having all the information available to clarify truth from conspiracy is the answer ... isn't it?

Moderation closing us down adds to the 'something to hide' format I personally believe

I agree it would be beneficial to all, to be able to have an open discussion of the issues.

Sadly this doesn't seem to always happen.

During the pandemic the forum became like the wild west.

Individuals or organisations with an agenda seemed to hijack the debate.

If you feel there is a conspiracy, I suggest you contact the BHF forum moderators directly.

Hello there I'm just suggesting that open discussion of our concerns are paramount to this forum

If some subjects are shut down, for example ..

C & V I've noticed used in code?

Why has moderation on this been necessary .. when there is no obvious reason?

I've got nothing to loose or gain either way... moderators will do their job as they see fit

Sadly, there was an obvious reason as I indicated.

The sad thing is we should be able to discuss. The powers in charge might learn for the future. My biggest concern is life has not got back to normal. Carnt get an nhs dentist? Why? People especially with heart conditions need to be checked regularly, that's what my cardiologist drums into me. But the truth is that we are still realing from the virus that carnt be named and a certain little skirmish in Easter Europe. Why carnt we all live in piece and spend the money on helping people.

Oh my gosh I am so so sorry this happened to you. I understand sadly it was rather widespread and for me beyond inhumane and frightening. Very glad you are still here to tell the story!

I thought that families had to be told BEFORE it was signed. That's appalling. Thanks for telling us, much appreciated.

The word "covid" has not been banned but if used in a context of disinformation or conspiracy then the post would rightly be censored.

My daughter, granddaughter and son in-Law just got back from two weeks in Spain on Friday and all three of them tested positive for you know what on Saturday. Other daughter has it too, but they haven’t seen each other for weeks. Bet I get it next. Still a lot of it about.

So what, it’s not strong anymore. More people were killed by the mrna injection then the covid itself. The media and pharma hide that though. Tens of minions would have been saved by eating early with the flccc protocol.

Thank you for sharing such an interesting and very informative link, Engineer. It was definitely worth a listen.

Anything contrary to that narrative Even questioning the media's information as members appears to being moderated on here ..

Even if it seems to be an individual airing their fears?

Stay safe indeed ... to all and every one of us hearties

Beautifully written post, thank you. I shall save it for future use in the unfortunate event that my autumn “you know what” triggers worse AF whilst in process of saving a few billion vulnerable lives - including daughter with MS who probably only survived the “lost years” due to diligence of her care staff!

Rather unconvincing programme which has been taken apart by other stats experts. They are a bit like economists who interpret the same figures and come up with different answers.

I agree. Well worth a listen.

I actually find BHF to be one of the better forums for discussions, you should try the Diabetes Forum they are overly strict and lack any fair comments or debates, just my experience of course.

Always try to listen to More or Less. Excellent program. We all know that stats can be manipulated and many people are numerically challenged. I find that if people speak with seeming authority they tend to be believed.

it is a shame that sometimes debate has to be curtailed. But those on the far right and hard left, though very small minorities, shout very loudly and are frequently prepared to resort to violence to force their views on the majority who just want to get on with life.

I have some very good friends with whom I’m struggling to remain friends. One in particular is intelligent, educated and professionally qualified. However, he’s an Evangelical who believes the most outrageous conspiracy theories, some of which are deeply anti-Semitic. He’s totally taken in and won’t change his mind even when I try to explain that extremism undermines our democracy.

We also had a large number of hostile bots posting in this forum, which created a great deal of heat.

Your last sentence is deeply worrying if true Henry. How do you know this?

MikeBB profile image
MikeBB in reply to Wingnutty

It’s true of every forum and social media platform. This one is no different. There was a concentrated anti-v** and “c**** denial” propaganda effort back then, with far too many people voicing an ill-informed opinion as well as the bots and trolls

Unfortunately when, the you know what crisis happened, something had to be done, hind sight is a wonderful thing. We where in grip of something globally that human kind had not faced for many years. I do have my own views but sadly these carnt be discussed. However the people in charge had to do something. Right or wrong, but many of us now have to live with the consequences.

Hi, I’ve been told by gp their hands are tied about the unmentionable inj. Said HF doesn’t come under compromised and I’m 64 another year older and I think I could have had 4th one!? I think we should be up there with RA and cancer etc. as ours affects our lungs, kidneys, liver etc It’s so frustrating and I’m scared to catch it incase it makes me worse or even finishes me off I also have asthma and he said that isn’t included in the government instructions either. ?

in reply to honeybubs

They don't care. They put so much emphasis on cancer, and yes it is horrible and my family have had their fair share of cancer but the heart needs alot more investment. I agree if the heart does not function then it effects every part of the body. Unfortunately I have congenital heart disease but no one realises how many people are born with a heart issue, yes medication has moved on and many people now survive into adult hood. But think about it, your heart is your engine. No engine? You take the engine out of your car it isn't going to go far. We carnt get a dentist so I carnt get my teeth cleaned and inspected for say 60 pounds every six month, no they would prefer you to suffer and then have open heart surgery at say 150000 pounds, because your tooth infection has effected your heart . Endocarditis., the whole country is a mess.

All this stuff is so tedious. Most people want info on heart issues, not this. If you don't like the admin rules, set up your own forum. More or Less is interpreting statistics like lots of other institutions and is not infallible. I have tried the programme and find it tedious; I would much rather read what respected mainstream scientists have to say.
