Dreaded flu- update its covid

Hi everyone! I hope your all well, thank you for letting me join. Quick history I was born in 1988 with shones syndrome and have had 2 mech valves done now by 35. My 6th surgery in 2018 left me with a stroke, tia and the following year a silent heart attack. My question is with the flu when do I need to worry about my temp? It's up and down between 37.6 to 38.2. Been 3 days so far resting and keeping hydrated waking up sodden with sweat. So I ordered some tests and it is positive for covid and my partner also has too. I have informed gp and pharmacy and can hopefully ride it out at home!

It's normal for the body temperature to rise when fighting an infection, it's part of the immune systems defense mechanism.

NHS Scotland offers this advice for fever for when most people should need to contact a GP etc

Obviously if you're concerned or believe things are getting worse, call 111 for advice.

Hopefully this passes quickly and you're feeling better soon.

Hello :-)

I am so sorry to hear you have flu it is a nasty thing when you get it bad like you sound you have got it

Plenty of rest and fluids unless you are on a restriction of fluid that is

They do say over 38 is a temperature and seems yours is just going over that 38 so remember we are not Doctors but that would indicate you have a temperature

I would keep a close eye on it and if you are feeling really poorly then you need to phone 111 or even for advice it might be a good idea to give them a ring

I really hope you turn the corner soon with this flu and shake it of and let us know how you get on :-) x

Thank you, I'm hoping this is the worst part now on top of temp, sweating my stomach decides its off too. Keeping hydrated and resting.

Hello :-)

I really feel for you people say they have flu when they have a bad cold but until you do actually have flu which I have had twice no one knows just how ill you are with it and then you certainly know the difference between a bad cold and flu as you are experiencing

Sorry you stomach has joined in try and look at it as it is getting rid of the flu and a sign even though not a good one it is making its way out

Just make sure nothing gets any worse and hopefully in a few days you will feel a lot better I really hope you do :-) x

Mdeal1988, I had a nasty flu about 4 weeks ago, very high temp shaking shivering couldn’t stand up properly my temp was just over 38, Hubby out a cold flannel and a fan in the bedroom if it m honest I’ve never felt so ill.

It was the headaches for me and the dizziness

If you tell don’t feel well speak to your doctor or go to A&E please.

Hope you feel better soon 😊

My symptoms all seem the same as yours, unlucky for us my partner has now picked it up too so we're both in the same boat, my temps down a bit but feels more congestion for me he's going thru the shivery stages at the moment. Doesn't help I'm in rented accommodation and the boilers gone so can't get it fixed till they open Wednesday, apparently boilers in summer aren't an emergency so been boiling kettle and using thermo to keep water for washing hands.

Bless you my hope you feel better soon

I must admit I’ve not felt right since shortness of breath and dizzy at times I went to the doctor last week and they are sending me for a few tests, chest X-ray and I have an appointment Wednesday coming with the cardiology department just to double check things are ok, if you don’t feel right go see someone x
