well I had my appointment this morning regarding my recent visit a review which didn’t go well this morning it was a very nice young fellow compared to me lol he put me at ease my blood pressure is up abit but then so was my pulse anxiety kicking in as usual. I informed him what happened at my review last not an enjoyable experience by a nurse with no bedside manner I thought. My amlodapine is staying at 5mg as I couldn’t tolerate the 10mg. He was more concerned about my heart rate he told me to take the bisprolol which up to now only as required. I was out on this Med a few years ago after 12 days I had too stop Doctor did it. So asked to take every other day for a month then every day. I asked if this low dose would bring blood pressure down abit as it’s creeping up. He said it would. I am not sure if the 1-25mg dose is enough to lower my heart rate when I have taken it on days when my heart rate palpitations which I get some days is mid nineties I taken one it lowers it to mid eighties the members who take this dose is it effective for blood pressure. Our meeting ended with him agreeing to my request for another echo not had one in 3 years. He is also referring me too the heart failure clinic which I didn’t know they could I just had a phone call every year upto now so a good meeting

Wow sounds like a much better and very productive appointment. Glad he's sorting everything out for you and hopefully these appointments should come though soon x ❤️

It's always a much better and reassuring feeling if an appointment goes well and you feel like things have been explained or that something positive is being done. It's less stressful which helps being a hearty! It seems to have had a positive effect for you which is also a good way forward . All the best x

I have to say everyone is different, but my own experience of Bisoprolol is mainly positive.Bisoprolol has brought my BP and HR down considerably. I take 2.5 mg every morning, perindopril at tea time and have 1.25 mg Bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket.

When I need to take the extra one I always find BP and HR are lower for several days afterwards. My BP usually is about 125/73, HR 57; I needed to take the extra on Sunday and even today my readings at 7.15am are 111/66, HR 53.

I have to stress that this is my experience, but thought it might be useful to have an example.

Your n 2.5 mg. Maybe the 1.25 mg I got maybe not high enough

Before I was on Bisoprolol my BP was 160ish over 90ish, and sometimes higher,so the 2.5 mg has quite a strong effect. If you try the 1 25 mg and it's not enough they can prescribe a higher dose. Too much can drop everything a bit too much.

Thankyou for that I also take amlodapine 5mg so maybe the two might work ok my reading yesterday was 145/80 said a little higher than we like it so hopefully this bisprolol will lower it to a more acceptable reading but Thankyou for your message really appreciate it. How long did it take to get used to the bisprolol I did try this a few years ago but couldn’t tolerate after 12 days was this too early to see if they settle

It's difficult to say as I went from not needing any meds to several overnight. The worst issue I have is fatigue but there are several potential reasons for that so I can't say it's Bisoprolol. As you say the combination of the two medications may work well. I find over time the body adjusts and you may need it tweaking in the future.

At my recent appointment he wanted to put my Bisoprolol up as my events are more frequent and last longer but I don't want that as I know how much the little extra I take when needed affects me. I have had to increase the Perindopril since it was first prescribed 2 years ago but it's still a low dose, as is the Bisoprolol.

It's worth trying the small dose, I always have extreme reactions to meds so I'm ultra cautious with changes, but it makes sense that a liw dose of one pill combined with a low dose of another one will give tge required result.
