Meds Eplerenone

Hello

Anyone else experiencing a shortage of Eplerenone,my usual pharmacy couldn't get any and sent a request to GP for alternative. GP had a prescription sent to another Local Pharmacy and I went today to collect to be told having difficulty obtaining, come back tomorrow !!!

This is quite worrying isn't it? What alternatives are recommended for eplerenone? Spironalactone? I have heard of supply chain shortages (there was a time when Entresto was in short supply) but deeply worrying if this persists as eplerenone is one of the central pillars of treatment for us.

I was swapped from Spironolactone to Eplerenone due to side effects so I guess that's the alternative if supplies don't resume.

I had a problem getting Carvedilol a few months ago. Fortunately I found a chemist with 2 weeks worth, which tided me over until my own one got them back in. I did have to get a new prescription from the Gp though.

My next sackful of drugs, including Eplerenone, is due in a fortnight. I hope they’ve sorted the problem by then x

Yes I have a problem every month but the chemist usually gets it out to me a week late....so far its got to me just before I run out.

There is a terrible problem with the supplies of all sorts of medicines, even OTC medicines. One suggestion would be to telephone all the pharmacies in your area or within reasonable travelling limits to see if they have your item in stock. That’s what I do.
