Here is how I was instructed with re: to amiodarone

I was told to take amiodarone for a two-three week regime prior to my cardio version. I was instructed to stop once I had the procedure. Nobody tolerates amiodarone well. Every warning I read told of how "toxic" the medication is. It took the med, had the procedure, it corrected the AF (for now anyway- had 20 months ago,) instructed under no uncertain terms to stop the med the very day I had the procedure. I have been on blood thinners since but far and away easier to tolerate than the amiodarone. In short, it was never my cardiologist's intention to keep me on the amiodarone. It was simply to assist in gaining the proper rhythm before the cardio version.I wish you luck.

Sounds like you had a sensible cardiologist. I hope you stay well now. Remember not to exert yourself for a few weeks and allow your heart to gain strength beating in it's correct rhythm.
