we’ll I honestly thought a decision would be made on my operation today after the final breathing tests yesterday but it seems no, they always have a big meeting on Wednesdays to discuss high risk patients. So once again I’ve got to clamber back down the mountain.

My brother who is very involved has repeatedly said 2nd opinion or get another specialist hospital to look at it, as they have also mentioned here, but I don’t know where or how to start that one

You can ask to be referred for a second opinion to another cardiologist of your choice through your GP. If you can afford it, you can also get a second opinion privately too. The GP route will be cheaper however, the wait to see a specialist might be longer when doing it this way.

Hello,I am really sorry you still haven't got a decision about your surgery.

Do you feel you need someone to advocate for you at the Multidisciplinary team meeting tomorrow?

Usually a member of the nursing staff attends the meeting. I suggest you ask to speak to the Ward Manager/ Sister or Cardiology Matron and tell them how you are feeling including your request to have a second opinion. You perhaps can ask these senior nurses to advocate on your behalf at the meeting.

The Anaethetist is a very important member of the team of professionals looking after you. Maybe ask again to speak to the Anaethetist and ask what plan they have in place for your care after the procedure.

Good luck.
