CABG and mouth ulcers

Hi, I am now 11wk post CABG, I have recovered quickly and feel I have been well but over the last 2 to 3 week have suffered from nasty mouth ulcers, as one fades another appears, I hade upto 5 at one time spread through my mouth. Prior to my CABG I was a pretty healthy eater and moderate alcohol drinker, post op I have vertually cut out alcohol and now have a very low saturated fat diet. Not sure if it the drugs I am now taking or my change in diet that might be causing the ulcers. I have spoken to the Doc but they don't belive there's any connection to my diet or meds. Has anyone else experanced mouth ulcers post CABG? Thx

Not post CABG but around 3 months after a heart attack I had a spell of around 6-8 weeks where I had non stop painful mouth ulcers. Like you, one would go and another appear and whilst I could get mouth ulcers occasionally before, these were the most painful I’ve ever had. I couldn’t eat properly and sometimes even talking hurt. My doctor put it down to stress (my father in law was dying) rather than any link to medication. The only thing that helped was an anaesthetic spray (sorry can’t remember name of it) and corsodyl mouth wash used morning and evening. They did stop after a few weeks and I’ve not had any since. Hopefully yours will clear up soon.

Thx for feedback. I have been prescribed a spray which numbs for a while. Years ago I used to use iglu paste which seemed to reduce the ulcers life but the manufacturer has stopped making it. My pharmacist mention it could be stress but I not really feeling any..... Other than from these ulcers.

You wouldn't be on Nicorandil by any chance would you?. I had non-stop ulcers when I was taking it - it's one of the noted side effects. Needless to say, I stopped it.
