I do think our body thermostats take a while to adjust to new medications. When I was on amiodarone I had to put on extra blankets at night for the first few weeks as my feet and legs got very cold. Then it seemed to settle down and I stopped being so sensitive to cold. I was recently offered Bisoprolol but because my blood pressure is quite low we decided this was not the best choice. It seems likely that a drug that brings down blood pressure could cause temporary circulation issues as the body adjusts. Good luck and get it reviewed if the symptoms persist!

Hi Pheasant, This is definitely one of the well known and well documented side effects of being on Bisoprolol. You do, kind of, get used to it, but after 18 months I still get cold extremities.

Pre HA it was a rare event for me to put on gloves, but now I have thin ones during cool weather and thick ones for cold. I have also invested in thicker, slightly oversize socks which I tend to wear around the house and put on over normal socks when I feel I have cold feet.

Now I grab gloves etc without a second thought pre going outside from mid autumn to late spring.

It can be a nuisance to start with, but, as with all things, the reasonable adjustments need to be made.

Yes, I am 4 years out from my ha and 2xCABG and am on Bisoprolol. I did find last winter my hands and feet were less cold but previous years they were like ice. I made sure I had some good warm socks and wrist warmers to get through.

Both my Dad and husband had this issue on Bisoprolol. My husband had many unwanted side effects on this drug so was taken off of it. My Dad on the other hand found that when the dosage was reduced, the cold hands, cold feet issue stopped.

Yes, a definite side effect. Even had chilblains on my hands last winter. Cotton gloves were very useful - the lightweight ones you see when people are handling ancients documents. Cheap and cheerful but effective.

Hi, i had the same and the surgeon stopped my bisoprolol 5 months after my CABG x 2 after that no issues at all. I had always been a warm person, but always had cold hands and felt chilly on the drug.

Yes I had the same. 18 months after my CABG x 4 I finally got fed up with having such cold hands and feet and mentioned it to my cardiologist. He was happy for me to come off Bisoprolol (I was only on 1.25mg) and since then it's been fine 🙂

Hi, Iam 12wk post CABG and have been suffering with cold feet and hand. Iam on 5mg. My HR and BP are good so have asked if I can half my dose. Waiting for a response from my doctor

I have been on bisoprolol since last September. At first I did suffer from cold hands and feet, a new experience for me as I am normally the last one to put gloves on. But it has eased now and I am nearly back to normal. It might be my body adjusting or a change in my other meds, but I hope your body does the same.

Yes definitely, have been on 10mg Bisoprolol and Warfarin for 10 years and I feel the cold more these days, but that could be an age thing as well, having cold hands, feet and lower legs. It seems worse when I sit down to watch TV in the evenings. I still wrap myself in a blanket even in the summer and wear thermals😊

Welcome to the blanket club 😀 Our cold hands, nose, knees, legs down to your feet is very common with a lot of us. Dunelm's Teddy Blankets are the best, nice and lite to pop over my legs for a quick warm up or if I'm tired I cover myself up to get warm and have a fab snooze. It is the medication and it's weird how it feels like a cold cloud around your body.

I had cold hands and feet when I started on 2.5mg of bisoprolol in May but it stopped after a few weeks and when my dose was dropped to 1.25mg. It also made me very tired but that’s stopped as well. I do feel lethargic all the time I suppose because my heart rate is lower, and I’m hoping I’ll come off then when I speak to my consultant in a few weeks as it’s made my nocturia a lot worse! I’m now getting up 4-6 times every night, I didn’t realise beta blockers are also diuretic!

Yes to the point my hands turn blue feet get cold as well and go white been on Bisoprolol over a year now feel more coldness than before my HA last April.

Bisoprolol (just 1.25mg) has exacerbated my Raynauds, so much so that just taking a yoghurt pot out of the fridge would make some of my fingers go numb and white. I perpetually had cold hands and feet. I now take Nifedipine which has virtually stopped this, but in hot weather I now perspire more, so the Nifedipine goes on ration when it gets above 25C.

Not only Bisoprolol has this effect. I am on Nevibolol, another beta-blocker, 2.5mg, for AFib after 2 heart valve repairs, which have improved the AFib a bit, but nor completely. Before the op I was on 10mg a day. I had started off on Bisoprolol but after several months felt so lethargic that I asked if I could change to Nevibolol after someone on this site recommended doing so, The lethargy improved to a certain extent, but the cold hands and numb finger tips in winter didn’t, even on the much lower dose.
