Blood pressure

I'm a bit concerned as I have the Omron blood pressure monitor which works with the viso app that sends my readings to my doctor.

Had a message from the surgery today saying that my blood pressure is low but they don't seem to concerned what is the benchmark for people like us on heart medication as I thought anything below 90/60 is not good as the viso app has been screaming at me that my readings are very low for example 87/59.

Going to contact my GP as feeling lightheaded and more fatigued than usual.

Any advice.

While in hospital I was told to drink water to bring my blood pressure up. Try doing that. I find I can drink it easier if its warm.

Thanks Jean.

I'm well hydrated but it still seems to be lower than the benchmark.

You can get the odd low reading. I checked mine at 1pm today it was 96/68, just checked again now at 2pm and it was 108/65. So I wouldn't worry unless its consistently below 90/60.

5mg Bisoprolol lowers mine but I've been monitoring it for 10 days and its never gone below 90/60. Yours is in the low zone.

Thanks tachycardia23

I'm on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol as it was causing me to be very breathless on exertion when I was on 5mg.

Not surprised if your BP is as low as it is now while on only 1.25mg of Bisoprolol god knows what affect 5mg of Bisoprolol would have had on your BP.

BP was OK but my heart rate slowed to low 40's I was on Losartan 2.5mg as well this was discontinued as I was also lightheaded and dizzy as well.

I see, I don’t have that problem. Bisoprolol 5mg slows my heart rate down to about 80 to 85 bpm if I’m sitting down and relaxed, preferably with my back being supported as well.

My heart rate since they reduced the dose from 2.5mg to 1.25mg has gone up from low 40's to between 60 and 70bpm at rest but does drop to 55bpm sometimes.

Mine goes below 80 when lying down. Usually down to about 73 bpm, whilst sleeping my resting heart rate goes down to as low as 64 bpm.

Hi yes I know what you mean. My tidiem makes me feel like that but worse if I try to walk etc. Try taking your blood pressure standing up with me it drops really low and I now understand why I feel poorly

If your blood is low then you not drinking enough water, I had a allergic reaction to some antibiotics and paramedics were trying to get me to drink water to steady my blood pressure in my case i was put on the drip and admitted into hospital i did ask about the water and that’s what they told me drinking water is what can steady your blood pressure

No not dehydrated as my pee is never dark apart from first one of the day.

I believe that having a little bit of salt as well as being really hydrated helps to get the bp up. I never have table salt and if I have to salt something which is fairly rare I use sea salt but preferably Himalayan pink salt. My usual problem is my bp goes too high sometimes.

My doctor seems to really like low readings (my systolic has been as low as 53). The only caveat seems to be if the low readings are accompanied by dizziness.

Whereas mine seemed concerned but I’ve not recorded a BP less than 96 systolic or 61 diastolic yet. I say concerned he just said it was a “bit low”.

Did an e-consult last night wich was a bit of a faff was triaged at the surgery Dr rang me she was also concerned she has made a face to face appointment with another doctor on Monday blood pressure has gone up slightly but not much feeling woolly headed with not much energy if the GP can't find out what's going on the triage GP said we will get in touch with cardiology hope I don't end up back in hospital.

Been to the doctor blood pressure was fine been having irregular heartbeats according to the blood pressure monitor I've got she thinks I may need a meds review from the cardiologist so she's going to write to him she's also requested a 24 hour monitor which another doctor at the practice didn't think I needed feeling a better today as my BP readings had gone up its very bizarre.
