Hi it’s e again. Was given an increase to 10mg last week. Had a troublesome side effect. I just wondered if it would be better given in two doses of 5mg. I saw on the internet a doctor replied to someone asking this question. Got a problem no line on tablet to it in half very smooth

Hello, I suggest you talk to your GP or Pharmacist rather than rely on the advice of an internet doctor and discuss with them the side effects you're experiencing.

It's not particularly safe to try and cut in half an unscored tablet.

Some tablets mustn't be cut in half, crushed or chewed especially if they are modified release tablets.

was not thinking of cutting a 10mg but rather double up on the 5mg one am and one pm. I ran it past the pharmacist today seeing GP next Tuesday

What side effects? If it is causing oedema then splitting the dose will not help.

As Milkfairy has said do not put your faith in Dr Google. Some with Web pages and YouTube channels are actually barred from practicing by the BMA or their home country's equivalent! Patient beware!

A change/increase of medication needs to be discussed with your GP.

I take 10 mg of Amlodipine daily. When my dose was raised to 10 mg from 5 mg daily, I got a bit of edema. It was really weird looking at chonky feet. After a few months, I must have adapted to the increase because the edema decreased considerably.
