Foxiga 10mg for Severe HF

Forxiga 10 mg has just been added to my meds. Apparently this a new drug for treating diabetes but has shown to help severe HF. I am not diabetic and just wondering if it is OK to take in the morning with my other HF meds. Bisoprilol Furodemide, Eperenone and Entresto( Secubitril Valsartan). Does it need to be taken at a different time of day, perhaps

Asking your doc or pharmacist might be a good idea. What does your prescription label say?

For what it's worth, my non-diabetic husband is on the same meds as you - and a number of others - apart from Entresto and has been taking the Forxiga (dapagliflozin) in the morning along with all the other tablets. He has had no problem.

I have been on Foxiga for nearly 18 months now with Entresto as well as others.

Have always taken them first thing on the morning. No problems for me.

hi. I take mine with a variety of other meds without problem. The pharmacist does dosette boxes for me and has no problem with the timing of me taking it. I’m on entresto and bisoprolol too but not Eperenone.

Thank you for your reply. I think I'll just take it with the others in the morning.

I’m sure it’ll be fine but maybe check with the pharmacy. The dosette boxes I’m now receiving have been great, they organise everything for you. It really helps when you are on tons of meds. Best wishes.

Hi, I take mine at lunchtime. I don’t know why 😊. I understand it should be taken at the same time every day. 😊

Thank you

I’m a newbie here having been diagnosed with HF/AF back in July. Most of the intervening period has been spent trying to sort out my medication with my nurse from the local HF Team. There have been a few stutters on the way as, I have experienced side effects that couldn’t be shaken off. Never the less, Eperenone apart, I currently on the same meds as you. I’ve only started to use Entresto at it’s lowest dose in the past ten days but, I started with Dapaglifozin at the end of November. I take mine in the morning with virtually every other med that I take. I’ve experienced no problem to date. I was warned that because ‘Dapa’ removes glucose from your system, it should be paused if you’re unwell and not eating.

Dear morris_8

I think the secret to most drugs is keeping the right amount of the dose in the body and that's why { it seems } that it is important that they are taken evenly throughout a period.

I take that drug {Foxiga} with my evening ones and was told that it made no difference { heart nurse } as long as I took them the same time every night.

Most drugs have a "time window" in which you can take them, so if you were due at 8 in the evening and forgot then taking it, at 12 it will still be ok, this is an example and not to be taken literally .

Its all to do with the 'life' of the drug in our bodies.

Pharmacists are a fantastic port of call for all drug related issues and quite often they have up to date information and feed back from other takers.

So does that annoying leaflet that is jammed into each box and that we all immediately go to the side effects list, that will tell you the manufacture recommended way of taking the dose which still could be over ruled by your health team.

Take care,

I have not had any side effects that I can put down to this medication, nor, I am sorry to say , do I feel any better on it.

Thank you for your reply. I hope you and I both might see a benefit from it in the future. Best wishes

Foxiga 10mg is a standard dose for HF along with Entresto and Bisoprolol well for me it is !!!

I also take Eplerenone, Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Lansoprazole, Statin don't need the Furosmide anymore lol

Only one with instruction on when to take is Lansoprazole before Food and Statin take at Night. The rest Aspirin and Clopidogrel after Breakfast. Entresto, Bisoprolol, Foxiga I take with a coffee around 1030 am Works fine for me.

Mine came with a booklet and it is important that you read it. I saw an alert on my GPs screen about a condition that can be attributed to Dapa

Merry Christmas and I hope it works for you.

Dapaglifloxin seems to have been around for 10 years and had several very different uses. A medicine looking for a disease? In Canada, where it's called Forxiga, it's also approved for chronic kidney disease, but apparently it can damage the kidneys. It can also cause diabetic ketoacidosis. 🤷 Given its serious side effects it must be a very good reason you've been prescribed it.

I too take that Same drug,my cardiologist told me to take it in the morning along with my other meds it's apparently OK to take with other heart meds,I take eliquis (blood thinner) metrol, dioxide, entresto,And duraloxtin for anxity every morning along with forxiga. Is one of the drugs you take for fluid build up furosemide if so ihave to take it at least 2 hours after my heart meds.

I would certainly be asking your chemist they are more familiar with the tablets than the doctors I find as to the working and safety of them with other meds.

But we are all diferant so do ask if your concerned.
