I have a question regarding GNT spray. Post HA I was given a spray which was a red bottle with a white top. Sorry don't know the maker. I'm fortunate not to have needed it very much. It went out of date, so I ordered a new one and have been given one made by accord, white bottle and lid. I needed to use it over Christmas and it made the skin under my tongue really sting for a few minutes after. I never had this with the first one. Is this a normal reaction Nd do you think I am ok to carry on using it?

Hello
The same medications of any kind can come from different manufactures but the same
However in the past with medications even though the same but from a different manufacturer I have found I have reacted differently and a couple of my meds ny Doctor has requested if they have a certain brand that is all they send me
If it is just stinging a few minutes it won't harm you even though unpleasant I know and if it is still helping your symptoms the same I think if it were me I would take it and when the Doctors open ask to speak to someone and explain what this one does and would it be possible to be prescribed the other make all the time
Hope you get on alright and maybe if you have time you will let us know x
There are 2 manufacturers of Glyceryl trinitrate, or GTN spray.
In my experience the spray contained in the white cannister tends to sting.
Ask your GP to write on your prescription which brand of GTN you prefer.
Hi and happy new year, yes the stinging under your tongue is normal I used to also get a headache immediately after spraying but the headaches have stopped now but don’t worry about the stinging it only lasts a few seconds and it’s normal
It's all down to cost according to the manager of my local pharmacy.......the white one is cheaper.
i have either, and it seems to me, they sting more when new, less when reaching their end date.
hi I get exactly the same I try and rub my tongue over it and sometimes have a little drink seems to help
My chemist tries to s tick to the same brands of all medications because I can react very badly to different ones. I have certain ones prescribed by brand name although GPs usually have extra paperwork to do that. Even with the same active ingredient, different manufacturers often use different fillers or preservatives. However you can often find that they are made by the same manufacturer but just packed by different companies in different bottles. It's a pity you can't remember the maker of the first one but try asking the pharmacist
The main thing with GTN that most people are not told by the hospital or GP is you need to sit down before taking it, it drops your blood pressure and over you’ll go. The amount of people I’ve been out to at work who don’t know how to use it properly.
