A Fib with fast VR any advice?

I had an episode earlier this week - sweats, anxiety, tremors, racing heart, chest pain and palpitations, that lasted for about 90 minutes. I have a known condition of paroxysmal A Fib, but this felt much more severe. It was followed by two lesser episodes

I went to A and E, but by this time I was no longer symptomatic. I had a number of tests and was told I’d not had a heart attack and that was unlikely as previous angiogram showed my arteries were good. I was advised to see GP re pass change in meds

I’m on holiday, so haven’t yet seen my GP yet, but am wondering if anyone else has knowledge/ experience of this condition. Beta blockers are not an option for me, as anytime I’ve been on them I have a fall as my blood pressure drops too much.

Hi AFGran

Sorry to hear that you’re feeling unwell.

I have experienced similar episodes but the longest any of mine have lasted is 20 minutes and that was too long for me!

I hope you get some answers soon, it’s horrible when these things happen and you can’t explain why!

Best wishes

thanks. I can’t take a beta blocker as I have very low BP. I already have flecanide as a pill in the pocket, but this time it didn’t stop the attack. AF I can manage, but the fast VR can cause a heart attack,

Your episode sounds very scary. If you have a consultant for your A Fib I would try and reach out to them for a review.

Im sure VR means ventricular response.? Iv got an old ECG printout from hospital and it stated I had AFIB. with rapid VR.!

yes. It means HR with the AFib is over 100, mine was 145.

AF is a high risk for a stroke. AF with VR increases chance of heart attack.
