newbie recent A Fib diagnosis

Hi, I’m new to the group. After an almost collapse at work two months ago, I ended up at A&E diagnosed with AFib and had a number of TIAs. Had an echo cardio gram 5 weeks ago and results still not available. How long have others waited for results? Feeling pretty lost, abandoned, not able to get back to work - job is driving so major impact. GP just telling me to speak with Stroke Nurses who’ve visited me once and putting suspected condition on my sick line which is not helpful with my work.

You could call your consultant's secretary and ask if there's any updates - but waiting times are pretty long all over just now

Called the Consultant’s Secretary to be told there’s a backlog. Have managed to get an appointment with the Stroke Nurse today.

Welcome to the forum and I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a difficult time.

It really does suck being in a position of limbo but you’re not alone and we’re happy to listen while you wait 🙂

I had an exercise stress ECG test at the beginning of Jan and no results yet but I know they’re swamped so it’s just a waiting game. I hope you hear something soon 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Best wishes

Unfortunately you will likely need to politely but firmly chase your results through whatever channel is appropriate. The NHs seem to be better at taking tests than analysing them and reporting back via the GP to the patient

Having those wait times for results would be unthinkable here in the states. I feel for you all and at the same time shake my head at the direction some in our country want to lead us ( force us ) into a system like that. Shameful.

Hi - I am really sorry to hear what you have suffered. Definitely chase up your results, and be 'pushy' about it. I have found it true that a lot of friends and relatives just had to be assertive and ring up til they got what they needed. Mostly they had just 'slipped' through a hole in the system somewhere and did get apologies that this was the case. Best wishes to you.

I feel for you. Just yesterday, I too, have been diagnosed with Afib and pulmonary hypertension, and an enlarged heart. No wonder, I’ve been complaining about exhaustion, near blackouts, painful breathing, shortness of breath, dizziness/vertigo, TIA’s, cognitive issues etc since 2020. What a merry-go-round. Keep strong and have faith. I sincerely hope you get results soon. 🙏🏻
