I had a HA and four stents back in 2020 just before lockdown. I receive the daily digest of posts to this forum and only reply if I think I can add something new or helpful, which isn’t very often.
As you’d expect, posts vary enormously, but for a lot of people heart problems come as a shock - why me, I’m very fit, how do I get on with the rest of my life etc. But we’re all here posting in this forum.
However, I’m still recovering from the news that a friend of mine died on Saturday after a HA. He was mid 60s, recently retired, slim, fit, always full of beans, looked after his health, paid attention to his BP and, as far as I’m aware, wasn’t aware of any problems with his ticker.
It’s made me realise, and focus on, how lucky we all are to be in this forum and talking about our specific health problems. What is the proportion of people who simply die suddenly from the various and complex heart “events” versus those of us who survive?
