Af and coughs

Had a niggly cough for several months and then diagnosed with Af. Now on beta blockers, anti coagulants, gastro tablets and amlodipine. Now have a stinking cold and cough is really annoying. My question is, does af cause the cough or do the meds affect the cough. I do not feel breathless and I can walk several miles with no problems.

I have mentioned the cough to gp, but he did not seem interested.

hi if you list the meds I.e. name them, then members will hopefully be able to help better.

In meantime you could have a look on the following which might show details of side effects.

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/#a

I take amlodipine, atorvastatin, clopidogrel and lansoprazole but don’t have a fib - I don’t get a cough (although cough is listed in link for amlodipine but as an uncommon one) and I’m asthmatic.

Could also ask a pharmacist if you haven’t already. If cough just not going need a stern but polite conversation with that GP!

Hope helps.
