possible heart strain

I had Covid in February 2023. 3 weeks later I started getting breathless. I managed my normal activities but eventually I found I struggled with my daily 2/3 walks and walking up the stairs at home. Tested my oxygen levels with our oxymeter, which came out at 89, 90, 93. This happened over a weekend (as it does!) and 111 referred me to our doctor's out of hours service. Doctor diagnosed suspected clot in my lung and I was admitted as an acute case to our hospital's emergency department (who were wonderful, excellent treatment with all the tests needed).

CTPA showed extensive pulmonary embolus in both lungs from covid. Hospitalised for 3 days. Put on apixaban for 3 months then must have an echocardiogram to check the right side of my heart.

This awful episode has been a massive wake up call and shock. I feel like an invalid, I've always been active and healthy and now may have long term heart damage.

Has anybody had a similar experience following Covid? Did you recover fully?
