Hi. I had a MI 6years ago and have found out recently that I now have an enlarged heart.I am struggling to get information from my GP but I was told by a friend that what I have is class 1 heart failure. Can anyone tell me if this is correct please. I am 72 and so worried that I am having panic attacks.

Thank you for reading my post

Hi Bonnybridge, there are several reasons why a heart might be described as being enlarged .I would give the BHF nurses a ring. They are very helpful and will answer your questions. Let us know how you get on.😀

I agree with the other post. The Bhf line is very helpful and there could be many reasons for enlargement. I had an echo earlier this year that showed mild to moderate enlargement, due to AF. I'm in my mid 40s so had some concerns, of course, but the cardiology nurses and the BHF nurses have been informative and reassuring. I am advised I'm not in heart failure. The two don't have to go hand in hand. It's also maybe helpful to remember that heart failure, as I understand it, is a description given to a set of symptoms and people can and do live well with those symptoms. Good luck and all well wishes 🌸
