First day at gym this morning as part of my cardio rehab. Finally getting started! I'm looking forward to it, especially getting to meet others in my position, people feel sorry for you and they listen but they don't know how you felt/feel. I'm not fit at all but I'm going to give it all I've got. I'll start one day then build up to 2 and perhaps throw in a bit of swimming, baby steps, wish me luck π

Hello
This is brilliant
I never got to go to Rehab as I am agoraphobic and always felt how much I missed out as I read how it has benefited so many on here and I know it will do the same for you
I wish you luck even though I am sure you do not need it as you will slowly start to get fitter and fitter in a controlled environment giving you all the confidence you need
I look forward to hearing how you get on x
That's a shame you can't go π it went well, I'm absolutely knackered but feel good, I'll start the Monday in a few weeks, too many bank holidays coming up so no real point in buying the membership at the moment. It was tiring but invigorating at same time, the coach was great and I was made very welcome, looking forward to next week, thanks for all the lovely comments π
Hello
I agree with so many Bank Holidays I am getting mixed up with them all !
It went really well thought it would and as you get more used to it I am sure you will feel less tired after this is all new at the moment
I am so pleased you were made so welcome it can make a difference and make us want to go back
Really pleased it all went so well for you x
You don't need luck Megan, you have got this, small steps win the race ! take care and let us know how it went.
Yes, the contact with those who understand is important to us. Have a good day. I'm off to University of 3rd Age today.
Aw wish you all the best with your cardio rehab! β€οΈ
Good for you Megan. That's a great attitude and I salute your optimism!
great news πππππ take it steady ππ
Hi, hope the session went well. I really enjoyed my rehab sessions, held at the hospital in my case. The nurses and physios were very supportive and really good humoured too. By the time I finished a few weeks ago my confidence had really improved and I found meeting with others in the "same boat" useful. I started phase 4 last week which involves a lot more gym work but being held at a specialist rehab centre, albeit a few miles away, I do bump into the same nurses and physios when they are over doing sessions there and manage a quick natter. I also go for a walk every so often with a chap I met in hospital. What's nice is we don't just talk "heart" but also what blokes also talk about ... basically a load of cobblers π. All the best, hope you get as much as I do/did.
Sounds good, I'm just going to keep going, I'm determined to do as much as I can to stay healthy and positive. I expected treadmills etc. but it was more aerobics, one guy has been there for 2.5yrs and sounded like it was same thing every week but I need to find that out, it was definitely a good workout, I really felt I had worked every part of me and was tired at the end, so it's going to definitely do me good. Early days to see if there is anyone I could meet up with as friends outwith the class but we'll see, thanks for your positive reply π
That sounds like my phase 3, we did use some very light weights but a lot of half stars, squats, steps, stretches, walking round cones, etc. It was only when I started phase 4 that I moved onto treadmill, bike, rower, cross trainer and some weight machines and being pushed to increase heart rate up to max. Definitely a step up. Glad you enjoyed it.
Rehab is usually worth the wait, so I'm pleased it is underway for you. It is very reassuring doing exercise under supervision and personally it gave me confidence to push myself. I wish my wife had come along to observe what I was doing as when I demonstrated the routines at home, she nearly had a HA herself. It was certainly enjoyable and I missed going when the course ended.
Now don't gun ho take it slow and steady. Enjoy π x
