dear Clifford

My Doc explained that it would be better to change lifestyle and I had a good go at that. But there came a time when BP was still hitting the high spots and so it’s medication as a last resort.

Became very confusing when I had to take other medication.

My best success came from relaxation classes.

that’s promising. 152 is not ideal, but just a hint of possible problems ahead, to be avoided. Unbelievably, my church runs free relaxation sessions and just about no one attends. I think we should try charging £25 per session and see if more locals will come !

yoga sessions in the village hall, same excellent person ran seated yoga, which suited me and included some relaxation techniques. Then covid came along and church plus village hall closed down. They are grinding back, but it’s not the same.

I use a tinnitus relaxer, if I can’t get off to sleep. I don’t have tinnitus but this little machine plays white noise overlaid by a choice of relaxing sounds such as waves hitting the beach. I can use the machine during the day to start off my relax session.

Hello :-)

I started with high blood pressure and tried everything which is worth doing but for me I had to go on BP meds but high BO runs in the family

See how you go but if it does not come down I understand you not been keen on another med but when it comes to your BP it is really worth taking them if you have to

Let us know how you get on :-) x

High blood pressure is a silent killer. Check your blood pressure and if it is high do what ever is necessary to get it down. If that means tablets then take the tablets.

hypertension can cause lots of issues and if can’t be controlled by diet or lifestyle changes , I would have no hesitation in taking meds. Which is exactly what happened to me - I was on Canderstartin and a water tablet ( indapimade) until a recent heart op

No decisions will be made until they know if it is consistently high after which you should have more tests to find out why. Whether you want more tablets or not, you may NEED them. Undiagnosed high BP is one of the biggest causes of heart disease

When i see the doctor i will see if he can do tests as to why it is high xx

Hi. I really hope lifestyle changes can help your BP but don't get disheartened if you need to go on meds. I was diagnosed with hypertension 25 years ago, I'm genetically predisposed (my internal thermostat is cranked too high was the way the cardiologist put it!) so I have to take meds. Its not great but they do the job and there is a range of options so if you have any side effects with one (I do with calcium channel blockers) your gp can look at other options.

As AnneFromOz said “Diet and exercise are vital for heart and blood pressure health”. You could try- Google foods that lower blood pressure. Search the “British Heart Foundation” website for exercise classes near you.
