As Sunday afternoon was the best time for most people we will kick off here at 2:00pm tomorrow. For newbies all you need to do to take part is to join this thread. Feel free to talk with anybody about anything. The only things that are banned are bullying, hate speech and discussing whether the ham or cream go first on a scone. π€£

Can someone please make sure Lezzers doesn't get to the gin first πThank goodness we don't have to worry about anybody pinching the loo rolls anymore...
For early arrivals we have Ferdie's Fish 'n' Chips and Antonio's Italian Ice Cream arriving at mid-day. Billy's Burgers will be offering burgers, bacon sandwiches and halloumi options from 1:00pm. Enjoy!
Ooh fish βnβ chips, burgers, bacon sandwiches and halloumi - that all sounds delicious!
Iβve brought some homemade stone baked pizzas; thereβs plain, pepperoni, chicken and bacon, Hawaiian, meat feast and a veggie supreme plus a vegan veggie pizza for anyone whoβs dairy free or vegan ππ»
Iβll just them on the table and grab a slice of pepperoni (my favourite)
HELLO AND WELCOME TO OUR EASTER 2023 GET-TOGETHER!
Chat amongst yourselves and enjoy the goodies on offer and those brought along by fellow hearties. As it is a balmy 25C we have sourced some pre-season Pimms! π¬
MummaSoap, we once went to the wrong funeral, there were several funeral rooms. Mick had a walker and was well into advanced Dementia. Can you imagine the commotion trying to get him to leave!
And there was me thinking I had it bad when I got caught trying to retrieve my gift from the wrong coupleβs gift table and then having to explain myself! ππ
Have some Torrijas my mum's recipe they are similar to French toast. They consist of bread, dipped in milk and egg, then fried, before being sprinkled in sugar and drenched in honey fattening but oh so good
On the bakery table we have a choice of Hot-X buns (traditional, whole meal and St. Clements) and Border Scones (these are sliced in three - the bottom piece has jam then cream followed by the mid-slice, cream then jam and finished with the top of the scone!). Careful eating the scones or you can get a bit messy! π¬
I saw there is a new channel ITV-X. Is that what it is all about? I saw it offered on my FireStick at Β£5.99 a month. I can't afford all this nonsense like Office365, Amazon Prime Music, etc.
Oh yes, definitely ham if it hasn't all been eaten with the scones & cream!
Sorry Iβm late, I had trouble with the bunny ears { fat head syndrome } and not sure if a 6ft 4ββ 16 stone, tattooed Easter bunny has the cuddle appeal that I imagined it would.
Even the bonnet depicting a scene from Watership down complete with a cascade of handmade daisies trailing down my back, canβt seem to blur the edge of a mass child killer look.
Lol, I have decanted Bombay Sapphire Gin into two plastic urine bottles { new } after my disastrous attempt using the paper mache ones, tut all this to hide it from you know who.
Have you tried googling it? I'd help you up but I'm likely to topple over!! Leave it with me I'll get a rescue party together, just let me finish my drink πΉ
Sorry I'm late. Also had visitors for lunch. Chicken or fish and homemade potato salad. Here the eggs and sweet treats come tomorrow. Weather not much today, showers off and on but got out in the garden for a while.
Cheers. Yes I could manage some bread, cheese and chutney. Soda bread? Reminds me of holidays cycling in Ireland.
I remember one Sunday afternoon arriving in a small village, thirsty and looking for a drink. We noticed a pub, but didn't expect it to be open, the licencing laws at the time didn't allow pubs to be open on Sunday afternoons. However we decided to try it. The curtains were drawn but the door wasn't locked. As we stood in the doorway getting accustomed to the dark in the bar we realised that it was full of people drinking.
It must be the gin, the memories of cycling in Ireland are flooding back. One time we went to a farm for some milk. We were asked: "Do you want a pint or a big pint?" A pint was a normal pint bottle, a big pint was if you had a Corona lemonade bottle. Can anyone remember how big they were?
Hi, sorry Iβm a bit late. The plan was I was cooking a big family dinner tonight. An elderly relative has this afternoon fallen and broken a hip, the family are now all at the hospital and the dinner is off. So I can now contribute 3 big bowls of strawberries, another of raspberries, a lemon cheese cake, a bowl of cream and home made meringues. Enjoy!
Oh wow, so sorry about your relative ( and all your hard work gone unappreciated) but those home made meringues with raspberries will be lovely thanks!
I'm a bit late but it's not too early for gin! I have a selection of flavours or the plain bombay sapphireβΊοΈ I have also brought some really nice mixed olives fronm Aldi - not very festive but quite yummy.
Oh and there's some M&S hot cross buns for anyone who has a sweet tooth - yummy smothered in butter and of course no calories or detrimental effects on this magical day!
Sorry guys I will have to go shortly as the dog wants a walk. Hope it doesn't rain while it's sunny with some fluffy white clouds there's some large dark grey ones coming this way!
He's a bit frail & unsteady on his feet & he has a walking stick now to help him get around but he'd heaps better so fingers crossed π€did you get your issues sorted?
Interesting response & one that surprises me! If this is an issue that's been going on for a while what makes the cardiologist think it's going to improve in a month? (Kevin's low blood count went on for a year, until he was allocated a nurse and she arranged for the infusions)
Sorry Michael but I need to go now and pack a case for a little wedding anniversary jaunt tomorrow. Have a great Easter Monday hearties. β€οΈβ£οΈ Stay healthy x
Thank you once again Young Michael for a great get together ,
I have lost my Gin, my bonnet and the fluffy tail off my Easter bunny suit , that's looks very like the powder puff Lezzers using to cover her gin pinked cheeks.
We'll I must be running along now (my legs keep going past eachother). Thanks for the food, drinks and company. Look after yourselves. See you around. π
Unfortunately, real life has got in the way & I've now gotta do some cooking π great fun as always. Take care all, must do it again soon. Enjoy the rest of your Easter X
Mum went out this morning and came back with my best friend with her son and her brother. We had a lovely grilled salmon dinner. Finished off with a lovely Easter Cake Mum made. I had one (rather) large Gin. Everyone has gone now and I'm worn out and I didn't do much.
Sorry I dipped out part way through - I fell asleep on the sofa and when I woke up my partner was warming the lamb roast dinner his mum had sent over for us!!
Thank you for organising this afternoonβs get together @MichaelJH, it was good fun and I shall look forward to the next π I also hope you managed to get up off the floor, shout if you still need a hand!
Happy Easter everyone, wishing you all a pleasant evening.
I do wish people would take their litter home. So far I have collected over a dozen empty gin bottles and half-a-dozen fish 'n' chip wrappers. And if you have aa crafty smoke don't just chuck the butts down!
