I didn't get on with Bisoprolol at all. Was on 1.25mg but it floored me, made me giddy, no energy and my resting heart rate dropped into the low 30s at times. I stuck it out for 3 months but about 4 weeks they took me off it. Having said that, plenty on here take it without any problems. I may or may not be on dapag.. , I'm part of a trial into that and there is a 50-50 chance I'm just taking chalk.

Reading the comments on here for the last few months bisoprolol has absolutely no effect on many people but causes considerable problems for others. We are all different. Dose size and time of taking them seems to have an impact.

You don't mention what symptoms you are getting that caused your post in the first place. Each med will come with a comprehensive leaflet so it may be worth re-reading them to see if any symptoms coincide with whatever problem you may be having.

I think I maybe one of those that don't get on with beta blockers. I had similar issues with Atenlolol many years ago. Mind you, in both cases, I didn't stop taking either until I had talked it over with the cardiologist or, in the case of atenlolol, my GP. The point about us all being different and therefore react differently is so important. We can share war stories but ulimately any decisions we make, or are taken for us, as individuals should be in discussion with a medical professional.

Agree we need to listen to our bodies but then discuss any problems with the appropriate medical expert before taking action. There are large numbers of people here who halve a dose or stop taking it without further reference.

There are generally alternatives that will suit the individual but they need to be talked through. quite often these things settle down after a few weeks

I’ve been taking the first 2 for years. It wasn’t until I came off perindopril and bendroflumazide to take them, that I realised one of them was the cause of me getting bad cramps in my feet. Those 2 I had no problem. I was given bisoprolol because of fast heartbeat. Last year my cardiologist said they want to put me on dapa she explained it to me over the telephone, the fact it remove glucose and it comes out of you etc. I then received a packet of it in the post. I’ve been taking it and I’ve had no problems with it. But this is my story I can’t speak for everyone. If you start these meds and have issues with them you have to speak up either to your nurse if you have one or contact your cardiologist secretary and explain. But usually they should do a follow up to see how you’re getting on with them. I always hesitate to take new drugs. Usually they have to convince me. I thought it had passed it’s trial. My mum’s friend and I are on the same meds and she received it in the post too and she’s ok.

I've had my dapa trial review brought forward from October to next month because the trail is ending earlier than expected. I did have a telephone appt with the cardiologist ( there is some overlap as he looks after me after the Ha and the trial) to review the recent changes in my meds so they swapped it for a face to face.

I was told it was a new drug no one told me it was a trial drug. Not that I care because since taking it my EF as gone up from 15% to 23%. I’ve nothing to loose anyway.

I don't know how long the trial has been running. I was signed up for an expected 2-3 years (from December last year) but sounds like it's ending soon. Could be I was just part of the belt and braces final trials as I've seen quite a few posts on here to say people have been prescribed it.

I was told it’s just an add on to the cocktail of drugs I’m taking for heart failure, so maybe they realise it’s beneficial. I know people who are also taking it for other illnesses.

no problems with Bisoprolol other than a runny nose. A nuisance to be sure but not a side effect I would worry about.

I take all three - the first two since my heart attack last November and the Dapa for the last month. Because that’s new to me I had a blood test yesterday to check kidney function, but all seems well. I also take daily doses of aspirin, atorvastatin, omeprazole, ticagrelor (x2), and ramipril.

I haven’t noticed any serious side effects. I feel the cold much more than I used to, especially cold hands. If I cut myself it’s harder to stop the bleeding. All that is to be expected with blood thinners. And when I need to urinate, it seems to be more urgent.

good morning

I take all three plus entresto with no side effects, but as mentioned earlier everyone is different. I take 5mg of Spironolactone twice daily with no problem but my wife takes 1.25mg once a day and it makes her drowsy.

I’ve just started bisoprolol 4 days ago so early days but I was told could take 2-3 weeks for the flat feeling to ease. I don’t seem to have had as many AF symptoms so going to give it more time in the hope I’m able to tolerate the meds. My anxiety levels are still an issue but think I need to gain more confidence on how to cope with the new AF diagnosis. Im having balance issues but not sure if this is related to the anxiety or my inner ear.

I'm struggling with angina and take bisoprolol. The angina occurs as soon as I have walked about 200 yards and if there is any upwards gradient I have to walk very very slowly. Having said that I did try coming off the bisoprolol for just a day to see what happened and my angina was far worse. The only advantage I had in not taking the bisoprolol was that my heart rate came back up to a more normal 52 BPM from the 42 BPM it sits at when I take bisoprolol.

I'm fine with bisoprolol but my dose was split some time back due to breathlessness. I'm now on 2.5mg in morning and 1.25mg at night. I too have a runny nose but ok otherwise. I was on Dapa for couple weeks but it was discontinued due to getting up around 25 times a night to pass urine. I was physically and mentally exhausted through it. Gp kept treating me with uti and px me antibiotics. It certainly wasnt the drug for me!!! My HF nurse wants me to start on Entresto soon. Is this a good drug? My ef at last echocardiogram was 35. Thank you all in anticipation.

hi. I take all 3 and entresto (10mg bisoprolol, 10mg Dapa, 25mg spiro) with no major issues. The bisoprolol could be to blame for my fatigue or it could be my heart problems, who knows. The Dapa is fine, as is the spirolactone. I did lose a few kg on Dapa at first but no more, mores the pity!! I split my bisoprolol into 5mg morning and 5mg at night, it seems to help. X

I had bisoprolol 1.25 twice a day for 20% ectopic beats , as they won’t do an ablation, as 18 month waitlist. Heart rate dropped below 30, sat around and got fat, couldn’t exercise. GP told me to drop one, or both if h r <60. Tried one on alternate days, h r <40, so stopped, got my brain and body back, seeing cardio next week.
