Just a quick question about medication, my morning meds are, 1, aspirin 2 bisoprolol 3, citalopram 4, lansoprazole 5, ticagrelor 6, isosorbide,
afternoon, isosorbide,
evening, ticagrelor,
late evening, 1, ramipril 2, atorvastatin,
I dont feel too bad in the morning, but later on in the day about three pm I start having pains in the stomach, feel nauseous, suffer chest pains, and generally feel unwell until about bedtime, I just wondered if anyone else suffers the same symptoms or has any advice to give, thanks.

Its obvious that you have mild dyspepsia/ stomach gases with morning medicines. Most probably tricegrelor and made worse by evening dose. Acids are highest as day progress. Consultant doctor to reduce or adjust time of tricegrelor. Eat simple food not likely to cause gases / bloating. It will improve with time surely! May God be with you.
Aspirin and citalopram are definitely culprits too. Combination with Ticagrelor is an issue. Is on a PPI which should help a bit but possible make sure take with food and that aspirin is either dispersible or enteric coated. Need to take Ticagrelor 12 hours apart so tweaking morning dose means tweaking timing on evening dose.

I meant take the Ticagrelor, aspirin and citalopram with food. I should have made that clear. As the stomach needs protection. Which the lansoprazole offers as well.

It is most important that you discuss these problems with your GP. Off you are unable to get even a telephone consultation, visit the pharmacy where your medication is dispensed, and discuss with the pharmacist.You are taking a lot of tablets and it is possible that some interactions are occurring. Changing the timings could alleviate the problem, hence the need to discuss with a professional

What did you have done as to why you are on these medications? i do know from experience of a heart attack and two stents that i was put on six meds. All had side effects but the ticagrelor and the statin can really have bad side effects but seriously it is a process of elimination. I noticed citalopram which can cause heart palputations and i would check if you should take it now especially combined with ticagrelor.
Good Morning scotrish, Thanks for your reply, I had a heart attack last August, had two stents fitted, another heart attack in September with another stent fitted, I think I may have narrowed my problems down to taking ticagrelor if taken in the morning with Lansoprazole I only have a slight reaction, but when I take ticagrelor in the afternoon I get a bigger reaction which leaves me feeling really rough this lasts until roughly 10 pm when I slowly start feeling a little better so I think that I will ask the doctor for a medication review and hopefully that will resolve my problem, thank you for taking the time to answer and I wish you a full recovery from your heart problems and a belated happy and healthy new year😀
I am curious if you have a moment. Once you had the first heart attack did they put you on all the meds then and send you home? Your second heart attack did it feel like the first? How did they discover it?
Good morning scotrish,I had my first attack on the 16 of August and had two stents fitted together with six different meds, I was discharged with a date given for the following October when I was to have another stent fitted, I was home for three weeks when I had severe chest pains very much like my first attack, I attended my local A and e where I had the usual blood tests and monitoring when my blood test returned I was told that I`d had another heart attack, I had another stent fitted the following day and was discharged two days later with the same medication, after that I started the long road to recovery, mostly bad days to start with but slowly getting better days, hope this helps if you need any more info please ask away, good luck and good health.
Thank you austin for your reply. I live in Canada on an Island and a couple of hours from a hospital that has Cardiology. My Cardiologist which i have only talked to virtually took me off ticagrelor at 9 months because of the side effects. Not sure if it is withdraw symptoms but day 5 and chest is very tight with jabbing stretching pains, stomach upset, headache. I have call in to doctor for advice.
Sorry to hear about your symptoms scotrish, other than a headache your symptoms are the same as I suffer at the moment whilst taking ticagrelor, have you taken any medication to relieve your upset stomach? don't rely on the second heart attack symptoms being the same as the first the symptoms can vary a lot, if your feeling unwell contact your doctor or a practice nurse if possible, are you keeping a record of your blood pressure throughout the day? as you live on an island how quick is your emergency service response, here's hoping you get over your symptoms soon and start getting some relief, any questions you have, or if you just want to chat ask away, good luck and good health.
Yes i remember when i first started ticagrelor and it was h..l. I did not think i could handle it but i rode it out for 9 months and the side effects did decrease in their intensity quite a bit. I suspect for any drug that has such horrific side effects from the begining it would not go quietly when stopping. You and i are the same age and similar in first heart attack but i am female and realize we present so differently from male in the Heart Attack and the meds. No worries i have a call in to doctor and the local hospital is 10 min away.
Good morning scotrish, Glad to hear that your not far from help if the need arises, I agree that it will take a while to get ticagrelorout of your system but the side effects will ease as the days pass so the good news is that you have better days to come and that`s certainly something to look forward to, its 0930 hrs here and I noticed that Canada is about five hours behind the UK I never realized that you have so many time zones in your country, is the island you live on large or small? it certainly sounds like an ideal spot to live, keep safe keep healthy.

Hi a35austin. I have 1 stent and pretty much take the same medication as you. My experience of high acid and severe balls of wind in my chest wasn’t from ticagrelor but from lansoprazole. I was also in the toilet a number of times a day and the wind in my chest was misdiagnosed as angina. It took a while for me to discover lansoprazole as the culprit. My Gp moved me over to omeprazole which has been a much better experience with mostly no acid and wind, and no noticeable angina. However, We all have different experiences with the medications and the same side effects can relate to a few of the things we take.
