Ibruprofen and Bisoprolol
am not a Dr obviously - but I’ve taken 400 mg Ibuprofen or Diclofenac 50 mg tabs with my bisoprolol 2.5mg when having RA pain. With no side effects The Diclofenac was better for me in terms of pain relief.
Just give your pharmacist a quick ring they will tell you if its safe at that dose.
Thank you,Blue1958.
+1 on the pharmacist as recommended by Hidden . However I would seriously consider whether taking ibuprofen long term is a good idea. Ibuprofen along with other NSAIDs like aspirin are known to cause irritation to the stomach lining, which is why some of us use enteric coated low dose aspirin. That said you might be lucky and not suffer any side effects, but I wasn't and ended up with a stomach bleed caused by ibuprofen and ended up with acute anaemia and was borderline needing a blood transfusion.
My GP warned me off ibruprofen tablets, they can cause raised BP he said, in my case more raised because its raised already. So its Co codamol or paracetamol for me.
I take 5mg bisopronol 2bd along with 75mg aspirin, ramipril & amlodipine I also take lanzoprasol to protect my stomach. I take the aspirin in the evening & 400 ibuprofen in the morning to separate them. I do try to take only one dose of ibuprofen a day at most & have a break from them every 2-3 days if possible, it seems to be the only thing that helps calm my osteoarthritis pain.
I was told flatly, "no ibuprofen." but I admit to taking it once in a while for muscle aches.
Good morning. Many years ago I was crippled with SciaticaDr advice was rest and Brufen ( they were like pink smarties)
I was a mum with 3 youngchildrenand another on the way
It wasn't the best advice
A few years later I was taken I'll with stomach problem
Referred for endoscopy
Results were patches on bleeding in my stomach
Advised NEVER take Brufen again as they caused thing
Don't know if still available they were a great painkiller
Take care and get advice
Have a good day
Hi..I was told definitely not to take ibuprofen..I 🤔
I have been advised by my GP and pharmacist that I should not use brufen at all - the odd couple now and then aren't a problem but not for long term use. I'm 69 with a history of AVR and have no other contraindications (e.g asthma/ulcer etc)
personally I would never take Ibuprofen, it had a negative affect on the kidneys , and regular blood tests for kidney function should be given , but in my case were not. Paracetamol is much safer pain relief , but ask the doc or check the internet.
.
all I know is they told me no anti flammable. Tablets like ibrufen or naproxen. With blood thinners. Like apizaban. So I just take cocodinal. And that raises another problem we all know about
Hello. I was told to steer clear of Ibuprofen tablets as I take Ramipril and Cardioplen. However, I was told it's fine to have Ibuprofen gel to rub on aches and pains (and I have a lot of chronic pain!). The 10% Ibuprofen seems much better than tablets ever were.
Contact your chemist and your GP just to make sure though.
All the very best. Jan xxx
Hello theminiaturist, being a member of another site for another condition, when someone asks for advise I always put a proviso that 'what works for some may not work for others' so consult the professionals. you could start maybe on low dosage to see how you go, and work up to full dosage.
I was told no ibuprofen with BP meds
Its a known fact high carb/sugar intake causes massive body inflammation (Arthritis is a general term that describes inflammation or swelling of one or more joints)...Carbs over 20 total grms a day. Dump that lot for a start. and no, we emphatically dont need any sugar or carbohydrates. Your liver makes all the glucose (and cholesterol) you will need, through a process called Gluconeogenesis (GNG) its a metabolic pathway that results in the generation of glucose from certain non-carbohydrate carbon substrates. As humans we are designed to run that process all the time.
Also bare in mind Ibuprofen (even aspirin from Willow bark) and all the other NSAIDS are Ototoxic? Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) is ototoxic and can cause hearing loss if taken just two or more times per week. Certain people may be at higher risk for ototoxicity, including those who already have a sensori-neural hearing loss. Plays hell with my tinnitus for days, or used to, I never take it now, much prefer ice or heat for injury.
Ibuprofen is used at least weekly by 17% of the population but are really only short term anti inflammatory. Dump the sugar and carbs and your body inflammation will go, unless theres some serious underlying factor. Humans arent designed for all these problems..Its a sweet running machine for many years if given the right oil. !
Check out Dr Ken Berry Youtube for Arthritis, he and Dr Jason Fung have all the answers. My Fibromyalgia went away after a couple of weeks on very low carb diet, along with my gout, headaches etc.etc....High carbs and sugar are the very devils seed.
We (humans) are not geared up for it. Oh, also check out Professor Lustig on Youtube, The BITTER TRUTH About Sugar & How It Causes inflammation.... he is a world renowned expert. 👍Should sort you out..
All the best...
if you are on asprin the answer is no. Paracetamol only.
I’ve been taking ibuprofen for lupus for years, along with bisoprolol for ectopics. I think you have to treat ibuprofen with respect, so always after meals and take a PPI like lansoprazole as well.
I can’t tolerate aspirin at all - gives me horrible stomach pain. But we’re all different!
When I was suffering from angina, I was told to stop taking ibuprofen for my arthritic hip, because it was making my breathlessness worse, and to rely on paracetamol. I find paracetamol nowhere near as effective for the pain, but there we go. However, I would strongly advise that you ask your doctor/specialist about your meds.
Notwithstanding what has been said above, the NHS cautions against the use of NSAIDs like ibuprofen with bisoprolol: nhs.uk/medicines/bisoprolol....
It seems like something to discuss with your doctor.
So, as a 44 year old sufferer of both of SVT and RA, my primary care physician at the Veteran's Affairs (VA) told me no 800 mg Motrin after I started on Eliquis after I was first diagnosed with A-Fib. She gave me Diclofenac Cream, and some Lidocaine Cream.
Those are great for the hands, and elbows, but........not for the feet, hips, and knees during the day because where I work I do not have an office where I can pull my pants and shoes off and apply the cream and wait for it to dry.
My private primary care doctor, said watch it. Spoke to my rheumatologist, and he said that he had no problems with the Motrin since other NSAIDs did not work as well as Motrin. None of my other medications showed a contraindication.
Fast Forward to seeing my VA Cardiologist, and he said to just cut it back from three times a day unless it was absolutely necessary. Fast Forward even further, and my electrophysiologist told me he had no problems with it as long as it was not three times a day every day.
My pharmacists have said no issues.
My gastroenterologist, after my upper GI and Colonoscopy, said he was surprised with the fact my stomach lining was showing no damage after such long term use of Motrin. (I was in the military for 14 years, and Vitamin M was the go to drug for everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING!)
So, after having had an ablation, and lots of doctor visits, I still take Motrin a couple of times a day as needed and had no issues. I would say coordinate with your pharmacist, rheumatologist, and primary care. The pharmacist (in my experience) will be the one that is most knowledgeable.
