Can I still Weld.

Hello ,I had an ICD fitted to the left side of my chest a good few months back, and I'd like to know for sure if I can safely still weld ?.

I only welded occasionally using mig and arc and the more recent inverter arc (stick),I hadn't got round to trying Tig.

Does anybody know regarding this ?.

Thanks in advance.

I have a ICD and had a leaflet given to me and it said I shouldn’t use a welder so I gave mine away

Dear You

it is down to the amperage of the equipment, but if your not using it for work then why take the risk?

Your provider of the Implant will be able to give you the best and most currant information.

There are plenty of welders that have pacemakers, but they follow strict rules to be able to continue.

I only welded as a hobby and certainty gave it up { along with a list of things } because I found the restrictions to hard to follow,

This site has some more help for you :- skilled welder.com

Take care

I would say no as there are large electromagnetic fields from welders. I have seen car key fobs and mobile phones destroyed from been rested on welding plants. I would not take the risk.

Thank you all,the reason I ask is I've seen different advice, the British Heart Foundation say you can as long as you don't go over 130 Amp,But the don't say which welding type, hence me asking on here hoping someone from bhf might spot this and know.

Thanks guys.

If you're on Facebook there's a group called icd support-uk. Obviously the name says it all but I do know theres a few members in the group who've had this issue with welding & will probably be able to advise.
