hi is there anyone taking ranexa and if so why have you been put on it and do you have any side affects
ranexa: hi is there anyone taking... - British Heart Fou...
ranexa
hi I'm on it for mircovascular disease 750 mg twice a day , been on it for a few months, I'm on so many heart meds I don't know which one give me side effects 😫😫😫
Hi Eddie64
I was only able to tolerate the side effects for a couple of days before stopping it completely. My side effects on Ranexa were tachycardia/increased heart rate which was accompanied by the sensation of my heart pounding to the point that I could almost feel it in the back of my throat. Based on this, it was stopped.
Despite saying this, there are many people on Ranexa and generally tolerate the side effects really well. This was just my experience with it. I do wonder sometimes if I took it a bit longer, whether my body would have adjusted and tolerated the side effects.
Good luck!
Hi, I’ve been taking 750mg Renexa, twice a day, for a couple of years now, having started on 500mg the year before. It was an absolute life-changer: I can’t thank the young doctor, who recognised my symptoms as potentially being Microvascular Angina and Coronary Heart Spasms (and later confirmed by various tests) and suggested taking the drug, enough. (The first cardiologist I was linked with was dismissing me as not having any problems until the young doctor argued with him, sadly he was embarrassingly told off in front of everyone by the cardiologist for stepping out of line!).
Now living an active/normal life, although still with, sadly, some occasional “attacks” that are quite debilitating and upsetting at times.
No real side effects, although it could be any of the cocktail of drugs I take that could make me more tired than ever before.
Best wishes.
I was prescribed it after my heart attack and the resultant angina got worse. I don’t think I’ve had any noticeable side effects from it and I’ve been taking it for at least 3 years now. 👍👍
I had been on 750mg for a few years. I suddenly developed constipations (despite a Mediterranean diet rich in salads, vegs and fruit). My GP explained that Ranolazine (Ranexa) can slow down the colon movement (hence constipation). So I dropped to 375mg (half the dose). Constipation : gone! A bonus effect was the disappearance of occasional (angina) chest pain (relieved with GTN spray). Since dropping the dosage (about 8 months), I have had no angina attack!! I should explain I suffer from Microvascular Angina and left branch bundle block. I used to have to use GTN spraya few times in a month; now zero so far.
Hope that helps
I was also prescribed Ranolazine a few years back now. Suffered from terrible constipation. As I am a vegetarian I could not understand why. Thanks to this forum I found a post relating to this issue. An alternative was Nicorandil medication. I discussed this with my Cardiologist and thankfully that has solved my problem.
I was prescribed Ranolazine many years ago when I was presumed to have microvascular dysfunction before my vasospastic angina was confirmed by testing.
I had to stop taking it. It gave me awful palpitations, it felt as though my heart had stopped with a thud then would restart.
In my experience Ranolazine is a marmite medicine. You either love it or hate it.
I took it with diltaizem (calcium channel blocker) the two together are contraindicated as can cause arrythmia . I had first degree heart block. Anyway I stuck to the diltaizem and stopped ranolazine.
thank you for all your replies
