Mild Aortic Stenosis

Hi, was diagnosed with mild aortic stenosis in September. 24 hour heart monitor came back normal and QTc normal. Next echo in 3 years for surveillance purposes, waiting for MRI scan which will happen over the next few months. I experience short bouts of light headedness and then nothing for a few days. I am running 5kms most mornings, think I might be over doing it ? Anyone have similar experience?

Hi Grga. Its quite recent you being diagnosed so I can imagine how daunting that must of been for you to process. Good thing is its mild which is good! mine is mild to moderate and also have moderate to severe aortic regurgitation and few other things but won't go into that 😅. Very reasuring that can leave it 3 years for another echo so that's another positive. Glad your having an MRI soon that's good also is this to get a more detailed look at your stenosis. I'm actually supposed to be having one in a few months but I don't know if I still am 🤔.

Your reply is much appreciated, and reassuring. I am still concerned with the bouts of light headedness although I am sure the MRI will shed more light. There is the possibility I might have a bicuspid aortic valve hence the MRI.

Aw I get bouts of lightedness and was suffering terrible with migranes turned out I had ventricular tachycardia so I'm on verapamil for this. Ah I'm glad they checking for you, I have bicuspid aortic valve also I was born with it as congenital heart defect. Hope your MRI goes well.

Just don't try for any PBs with your 5ks! Take it easy and expect your time to slowly increase if you do have a bicuspid valve.Take care.
